Gwen Pearson Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Gwen Pearson long time resident of Poughkeepsie, NY died May 9, 2018 at home surrounded by her family and love ones.
She was the daughter of the late Mellinee Larry Hutchinson and William Pearson born on September 14, 1945 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Gwen retired from Saint Cabrini, she also worked at B & L Market and held several various jobs. She was a faithful member at Beulah Baptist Church and a former member of the choir. She was also a member of the Gospel Five Singing Group.
Gwen touched so many lives with her services to the community, she fed the homeless, and provided shelter for people in need. She will always be remembered for her infamous 4th of July block parties.
She was a jack of all trades and was a business owner of Twiggy's Record Shop and New Generation Barbershop. Gwen loved sports and was a die heart KNICKS fan, but she also loved all her New York Teams.
Her warmth and love will be fondly remembered by her daughter, Jeannie Pearson; 3 brothers, Levurtus Larry (Jennifer), Joe Hutchinson (Sharon), and Sam Thomas (Cindy); 3 grandsons "the love of her life Nakya", Namar, and Nakia; one granddaughter Markia. Other survivals include her daughter-in- law, Polly Joyner, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family the Turner's, and Ella Tillery.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Nakia Bruton, her step-father Wilford Hutchison, her dogs Jerry and Junior.
Ms. Pearson will repose 10-11 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Services at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Jesse V. Gwen now that you've gotten your wings you flew away to be with Kia. You were that Cool Aunt that everyone would want to have. Half of my life i spent around you, you taught me so many things about life all the while teaching us trying to be seriously but some how u left us laughting. Ur were a diamond in the rough. I loved the woman u were nothing was ever too hard for you to do, your that go get things done woman, strong hard working no nonsense and told u the real things of how she felt about you.
