Henry Rathjen Obituary
Rhinebeck-Henry A. Rathjen, "Hank", 69 of Rhinebeck, NY, passed away on May 4, 2016.
Hank was born on September 11, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to Rhinebeck with his family and attended Rhinebeck Schools. After finishing school, Hank was a Union Electrician for Local 215 and Local 363 for 35 years until his retirement in 2004.
Hank loved his fishing. He loved fishing on the Hudson for Strippers and then going to his second home in Cape Vincent, NY in the Thousand Islands to fish the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Hank is survived by his wife Sue Ellen of 31 years whom he married in 1985. He is also survived by two children, Kelly and Peter; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, John Rathjen; and several nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy (Bowman) Rathjen.
There are no calling hours.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in honor of Hank can be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or to the Landsman Kill Stocking Club, in care of Joan Winne, 10 Wynkoop Lane, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.

Think about you often when I fish, cherish when we fished the Esopus and my visits to the St. Lawrence to see you and Sue. I remember bringing my father up and you took us out on your boat.. You taught me how to fly fish the right way and i still have the rod you taught me on. Hope you find that big trout and I'm sure you"ll catch him on one of your custom flies...Will think of you when the first salmon come up the river in the fall..
