Isabella M. Sciacca

Poughkeepsie - Isabella Catucci Sciacca, 92, a life-long area resident, peacefully passed away at home on 12/16/2017. She was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on April 6, 1925 to Giacomo Catucci and Maddalena Surico. On December 11, 1955 she married Matteo Sciacca with whom she enjoyed 28 wonderful years before his passing in 1984.

Together they had 3 children: Cheri Sciacca, Susan Sciacca and M. Dean Sciacca. They survive along with their spouses Michael Britt, Kevin Barnes and Sophia Kozlowski Sciacca; her grandchildren Joseph, Michaela, Nathan, Jennifer, and Ava; her Godmother's son Tom Santorelli; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her 7 brothers and sisters: Erminia (Gahan), Donald, Lillian (Allers), Paul, Frank, Johnny, and James; and her Godmother, Maria Santorelli, with whom she had a very special relationship.

Isabella was employed for many years at IBM Poughkeepsie. After her retirement she remained very active. She loved volunteering at the Italian Center, belonging to their clubs, and playing in the ladies Bocce league which she did until she was 90 years old. She also loved playing cards, and volunteering in the community. She will be remembered for her tremendous energy, positive attitude, and her baking; especially her rice pudding and traditional Italian holiday pastries.

Calling hours will be held at William G. Miller and Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 5-7PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 10:15AM in St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Followed by interment in St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
