James McArtin Obituary

James R. McArtin

BEEKMAN - James R. "Jim" McArtin, 62, an area resident for 15 years, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Peekskill and Yonkers.

Born in Scotland on July 20, 1952, he was the son of the late John and Elsie (Parker) McArtin. On June 26, 1982 in Washington, DC, Jim married Sharon Abarno McArtin who survives at home.

Jim enjoyed classic cars and watching car races, and owned and operated Frantic Auto Repair in Tarrytown for many years until his retirement. An avid NY Yankees fan, he had coached little league in Peekskill and Beekman while his sons were growing up.

In addition to his loving wife of 32 years, Jim is survived by his sons, Alexander McArtin of Poughquag and Andrew McArtin and his wife Carla of Wappingers Falls; his brother, Doug McArtin and his wife Charlene of Yonkers; his nephew, Brian McArtin and his wife Theresa of Wappingers Falls; and his great-nephew, Charlie McArtin.

There will be a Celebration of Jim's Life at a later date. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
