Kyong-sook Yun

Poughkeepsie - Kyong-sook Yun, née Park, 67, originally of Seoul, South Korea, passed away Friday at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

She was born April 17th, 1954, in Seoul, to Yong-shik and Soon-gi Park. She attended Seoul National University to earn a nursing degree and moved to the United States in 1977. In 1980, she married Songsu Yun.

Kyong-sook worked at the ICU at Vassar Brothers Hospital for over 25 years, and after her retirement was actively involved with the Mid-Hudson Korean United Methodist Church, the Poughkeepsie Farm Project, the Vassar Lifelong Learning Institute, and more recently, with giving COVID vaccinations. She made friends everywhere she went and had a very generous heart.

Kyong-sook loved cooking and baking new recipes, hiking, and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Songsu, her daughter Joanne and her husband Scott; her son Christopher; her two brothers Kyong-Ahn and Kyong-seo and her sister Kyong-Ja.

There was a memorial service at the Mid-Hudson Korean United Methodist Church on Monday, June 21, at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in the form of contributions to the Mid-Hudson Korean United Methodist Church.
