Margaret Cella

Rhinebeck - Margaret Cella, 93, a longtime Barrytown resident, passed away on March 20, 2017 at The Thompson House, Rhinebeck.

She was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of the late Sydney and Anne Tattan Godfrey. She was a graduate of the Academy Mount St. Vincent on Hudson, NY, class of '41 and the Katherine Gibbs School, NYC. Margaret married Frank Cella on Sept. 28, 1946 in Rhinebeck. They lived there until 1955 and moved to their small farm in Barrytown. After raising her family, Margaret worked at Medrex, Port Ewen for 20 years until retirement. For a half century Margaret never missed going to the Dutchess County Fair. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

A special thanks to the wonderful caring staff of The Thompson House which was her home since 2009. Her family also wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Northern Dutchess Hospital, and to Hospice of Dutchess County, for their care.

Margaret's husband, Frank, died in 2003; her son in law, John Vasta, died in 2006 and family friend, Mark Campala died in 2009.

Surviving are six children Jo Ann Cella of Kingston, Barbara Vasta of Poughkeepsie, Jonathan (Laura) Cella of Copperas Cove, TX, David (Laurie) Cella of Tivoli, Jeffrey Cella of Kingston and Kathryn (Terry) Law of Pine Plains; grandmother of Matthew and Allison Vasta, Jeana (Patrick) Feehery, Becky Cella (Michael Thompson), Larissa and Jennifer Cella, Michele Cella (William Iannici), Joshua, Justin, and Caleigh Cella, Sarah Cosenza (Brad Brinkley); great grandmother of Alaina, Ben and Isla Feehery, Ashley and Madilynn Cella, Evelyn Skye Williams and Avery Rose Brinkley. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends will be received on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Rhinebeck, NY.

The funeral procession will form on Saturday, March 25th at 10 am, were will proceed to St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook for a Mass of Christian Burial that will begin at 11 am.

Inurnment, in Wurtemberg Cemetery, 371 Wurtemburg Road, Rhinebeck will be on Wednesday, March 29th at 12:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the "Resident Council Fund" (activity department at The Thompson House), 6525 Spring Brook Ave, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.
