Nicholas Siciliano Obituary

Nicholas John

Siciliano

Poughkeepsie, NY - Nicholas John Siciliano, 84, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2015. Nick was born December 26, 1930 in Englewood, NJ to the late Joseph and Mary Catona Siciliano. On May 13, 1995 Nick married Paula Siciliano who survives at home.

Nick served his country during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division and was honorably discharged in 1953. He is a 1972 graduate of Marist College and was a licensed Coast Guard Captain. He was formerly a member of the New Hamburg Yacht Club.

After working at IBM for 28 years, he took an early retirement to pursue his dream of sailing. He owned Polaris Charter Company and fulfilled many people's dreams of taking a sailing vacation. He visited many spots in New England, the Caribbean and Europe.

In recent years, Nick treated his role as Ombudsman at River Valley Care Center with great devotion and was honored for that. He lived his life to the fullest, had a strong faith in God and a tremendous love for humanity. When asked, Nick would always tell you "he felt like a million bucks."

Along with his wife Paula, he is survived by his daughters; Lisa Siciliano-Davis & husband David; Kathleen Gurchie & Al Buerkel; granddaughter Fae Davis and his sister Mary Higdon as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Patricia, son Joseph and his sister Evelyn.

As per Nick's wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial will be held at a later date.

John McGinley

June 4, 2015

Dear Paula:

Nick and I worked together in the toolroom at IBM for many years and he was brilliant at his trade. We crossed our paths later when I would go to Mount Carmel church and more recently at St. Martin De Porres.
He was an amazing man with great faith. I will miss him.

John McGinley.
