Patricia Burdick Obituary

Patricia Jean Burdick

San Ramon, CA - Patricia Jean Burdick passed away after a brief illness on July 22, 2015. She was 83. She was born to Charles and Marion (Harlow) McLain in Poughkeepsie, NY on March 31, 1932. She graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1950. She married Harry J. Burdick on July 25, 1953. They soon moved to 49 Schoolhouse Lane in the Spackenkill section of the Town of Poughkeepsie where they lived and raised their children until moving to Danville, CA in 1991 to be closer to their daughter. She worked for the Dutchess County chapter of The American Heart Association, first as a volunteer at the children's cardiac clinic at Vassar Brother's Hospital and eventually becoming a full-time employee at the Heart Association office. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Croft Corners Fire House. She loved books and was an avid reader all of her life. She enjoyed cooking, especially making sauce on Saturday afternoons for spaghetti and meatballs. Her greatest joy was talking to and spending time with her children and grandchildren and imparting an extensive oral history of both the McLain and Burdick families over the years.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2005 and by her three siblings; Dorothy DiGiovanni, James McLain, and Marion "Babe" Hewitt. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Burdick, MD and his wife Mary Philion of Albany, NY, by her daughter Christine Pierce of San Ramon, CA, by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
