Petra Averbeck Obituary
RHINEBECK - Petra C. Averbeck, 47, of Rhinebeck, NY died on Monday August 20, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Petra was born on September 4, 1964 in Mainz, Germany to Jurgen and Gisela Scholtz Spallek who survive in Germany. She had been a local resident since 2002 and lived previously in New Jersey. She is survived by her husband Clemens M. Averbeck, who she married on September 9, 1994 in Weisbaden, Germany. Petra had worked as an Energy Efficiency Analyst for Malcarne Contracting in Rhinebeck, NY. She was an integral part of Malcarne Contracting operations and worked tirelessly in promoting their services. Petra had a great ability to connect with people. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter Jil Averbeck at home, her brother Ingo of Weisbaden, Germany, her sister Silke Spallek-Spadoni of Inzago, Italy, her niece Geulia and her nephews Luca and Claudio. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 4 PM at Mills Mansion, Old Post Road, Staatsburg, N.Y. 12580, down by the river near the powerhouse. Arrangements are under the direction of the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Petra was a wonderful person to know personally and professionally. We worked at many events together and what always struck me was how much she loved her daughter, whom she always mentioned. I will miss Petra very much.
