Raymond Belding Obituary
Wappingers Falls - Raymond J. "Butch" Belding, 81, of Wappingers Falls, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Wappingers Falls on December 5, 1936, the son of Elmer Belding Sr., and Vera Morgan Belding. In November 1960, he married the former Lois A. Greer, who passed away August 14, 1998. Butch was employed as a manager-engineer at IBM in E. Fishkill. He served in the service during the Korean conflict from '55-'58. Butch was a former village trustee, judge, police officer in the village. He also served as mayor. He was a member of the American Legion, S.W. Johnson Eng. Co.#2, was active in the Little League, and was elected to the Softball Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his daughters, Tracey Thorpe(Paul) of Highland, Heather Belding-Wilson(William) of Hyde Park, Sons, Timothy Belding of Wappingers Falls, Christopher Belding(Deborah) of Dora, Alabama, and Patrick Belding(Katrina) of Poughkeepsie, Grandchildren, Kristen, Billy, Bryan, Ryan, Erin, Kelly and John, 5 Great Grandchildren, Sisters, Catherine Mazochi(Don) of Wappingers Falls, Ethel Parrino of Pompano Beach, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Elmer Belding Jr., and a sister, Barbara Welsh .
Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home 64 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday at 2:00 PM at St. Marys Church 11 Clinton St., Wappingers Falls. Burial Wappingers Rural Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice of Dutchess County, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I've known Ray since I moved up from Peekskill in 1966. We played alot of softball, together & against. He was a good friend & always had alot of class. We kept in touch, after I moved to South Carolina.

Ray was a long time coach in the disbanded Village of Wappingers Little League program. His wife was an officer. Ray coached with the late Bob Travis and made a great team. Prayers for the Belding family.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Butch was a great guy. My fondest memory is when he would dive off the wall down by the raceway, he could have been an Olympic diver. Butch Rest In Peace.

My sincere condolemces to the Belding family. We were friends over the years, mainly playing fast pitch softball in Dutchess County. When I was driving school bus for HP, I would see Ray at North Park picking up the grand kids. RIP Ray.
