Richard Sarles

EAST FISHKILL - Richard Sarles, 81, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 40 years and formerly of Mahopac and Yorktown Heights, died on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Valhalla on July 25, 1930, he was one of thirteen children of Albert and Lulu Goodheart Sarles. He was employed in the Mail Department for the Mahopac School System for many years and enjoyed car shows.

On July 11, 1948 in Pleasantville, Richard married Lillian Pearl Lovely who predeceased him on January 17, 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Lillian Hoert and her husband Gary of East Fishkill, Goldie DeLuca of Poughquag and Shirley Foshay of Hopewell Junction; his daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Sarles; his grandchildren, Melissa and Thomas Romano, Lindsey Hoert, Robin and Tracy Cable, Kathy and Michael Bucey, Jennifer and Robert Michelk, Keith and Meghan Foshay, and Gregory Sarles; and his great-grandchildren, Victoria, Anthony, Hunter, Morgan, Gage, Madison and Reese. He was predeceased by his sons, Richard Sarles in 2005 and Douglas Sarles in 1956.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at the Funeral Home followed by interment in Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.

Memorial donations may be made to the Vassar Brothers Hospital Foundation Inc., 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you all.
You are in my prayers. May Uncle Dick rest in peace, I will always remember that one christmas when our family had no money but he made sure we did not go without, Uncle Dick and Uncle Dave brought a trunk full of presents for us kids to make a christmas special. I will always cheerish the love I felt on that day and many more like it. Rest in Peace Uncle Dick xxooxx
