Reverend Robert Philip Allen Sr.

Beacon, NY - Reverend Robert Philip Allen Sr. was born to the late John Manuel Allen Sr.,and Mary Celestine Oliver Allen in Newburgh, NY, on June 2,1934. He moved to Beacon in 1970. Robert was a deacon at the Evangelist Deliverance Center in Beacon, where he was an ordained evangelist, and later became the Assistant Pastor.

Reverend Allen was ordained in Brooklyn, NY, at The Church of The Living God United, in Beacon, NY, where his five youngest children, formed a gospel singing group called the Allenites.

Reverend Allen was a Korean War veteran, receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force as a stationary engineer. He took this trade to work at Tuck tape in Beacon, NY and Cornwall Paper Mills in Cornwall, NY.

While pastoring the Tithes Church of the Living God United, he enlisted in the Navy Reserve and became the Lay Minister for the Protestant church services at Camp Smith, in Cortlandt Manor, NY for the Seabees, Black Cat Battalion, NMCB-13, He was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, with the Seabees. Robert was also a member of the American Legion, Post 203, also in Beacon, NY.

Reverend Allen was predeceased by his brothers, John "Sonny" Allen, Kenneth Walton Allen, and a sister, Bessie Mae Allen. He is survived by his brother, Melvin Allen of Newburgh, NY; four sons, Sherman Williams of Ellenville, NY, Robert Philip Allen Jr of Ohio, Oliver E-Z Allen of Marina Del Rey, California, and John Allen of Las Vegas, Nevada; four daughters, Lucinda Harris of Kennesaw, Georgia, Helen Harrell of Racine, Wisconsin, Margaret Celestine Allen of Newburgh, NY, and Erica Lynn Allen of Las Vegas, Nevada, one Godson, Derrick Wilson and his family, all of Wappingers Falls, NY, 28 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and dear friends. Robert leaves to mourn, Renee Allen, his ex-wife, of which he shared a special bond. Renee, even after their divorce, remained his confidant, and care-giver, but above all, his Best Friend.

Family and friends will have a gathering 10-11am Tuesday March 24 at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church 139 Main Street Beacon, NY. Memorial services begins 11am at the church. Reverend Frederick Mills officiating.

Even though I'm not there in person but am in spirit!!! You lived, you taught, and you grabbed life to the fullest!!! Now you get to be in heaven smiling, dancing, and looking down on us especially on all your grandchildren! I love and miss you but it's going to be very hard to let you go!!! I'll see you again when my time comes!!!
