Crenshaw Sr.
Poughkeepsie - Robert W. Crenshaw, Sr. of Poughkeepsie, NY died July 8, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. He was 66 years old.
He was born March 21, 1949, loving son of the late Eddie W. and Dorothy J. Crenshaw and devoted husband of Evelyn Faulcon Crenshaw of the home.
Robert received his early education in South Hill, VA, graduating from Norfolk State University prior to beginning his engineering career at IBM. In addition to his extensive career with IBM and MiCrus, he retired as an executive manufacturing engineer at Philips Semiconductor. Bob was a faithful member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for 40 years, where he was currently serving as chairman of the Trustee Board. In 2002, as chairman of the new building committee, he labored tirelessly. When the church was near completion and tragically burned down in 2008, with steadfast fortitude he worked with his team to complete the rebuild in 2009. Bob was a devoted civic and community leader, having served on the Poughkeepsie Community Board and as board member of REHAB Programs, Inc. He coached CYO basketball for over 15 years and served as a mentor of male students at Poughkeepsie High.
He is survived by two sons, Robert W. Crenshaw, Jr. and Joseph C. Fudge; two daughters, Adrienne Crenshaw-Diop (Mohamet) and Cherie Griffin; two grandchildren, Madeleine and Adam Diop; one sister, Carolyn Rice (Albert); four brothers, William , Marshall (Charlene), Eugene (Felicia) and Jay Crenshaw; and a host of many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his dear brother Larry Crenshaw (Maria).
Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church/Historic Sanctuary Renovation Project.
Mr. Crenshaw will lay in repose 6-9 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2607 South Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015. Rev.Dr. Edward L. Hunt will officiate. Funeral service 11:00 am at the church. Interment Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY. It is with the greatest regret that I received the news of the passing away of Bob. He was an outstanding human being, a proven leader, a role model to many of us, a man of compassion and great humor and my friend of 45 years. He was also my boss, one of the very best that I was honored and privilege to serve. I have great and happy memories of Bob, which I will cherish as long as I live.
