Roy Schubert Obituary

Roy H. Schubert, Jr.

Charleston, SC - Roy H. Schubert Jr. 86 years old of Poughkeepsie NY died on Tuesday morning Jan 22, 2013 following a three year stay in a nursing home in his home town of Charleston S.C. Born in Poughkeepsie NY Jan 6, 1927 Roy was a Arlington graduate and right after high school he joined the US Navy during WWII. He was a gunner on a PBY class airplane. After a 2 year stay with the armed forces he went to work for the family business Schubert's Auto Supply with his father and brother. While he lived in Poughkeepsie he was a member of the Masonic Temple, Kiwanis Club also a member of Dutchess Golf and Country Club. He loved playing golf and continued playing until a few years ago. In his younger years he was an aviate scuba diver and loved boating. Upon retiring he moved down to Fort Lauderdale Fl and enjoyed golfing and boating. He also joined the Navy League and was quite active in it as in everything that he did in life. In 2005 Roy and his fiancé Nicole moved to Charleston S.C. where he lived until his death. Roy Jr. is survived by three children Laura Schrewsberry of L.A. Ca. Victory Raab of Ft. Lauderdale FL and Roy Schubert III and his wife Wendy of Clarks Summit Pa. His three grandchildren Sabrina, Amber and Crystal and several nieces and nephews, also survive him. A memorial service will be held at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery sometime in the spring an announcement will follow. Local arrangements are under the direction of Wm. G. Miller & Son F.H., Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
