Roy Wright Obituary
POUGHKEEPSIE - Roy Allen Wright went home to be with the Lord; Saturday, May 21, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his biker family (SWARMS).
Roy was born July 20, 1964 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late James R. Wright, Sr. and Kathleen Franklin Wright Herdon. He was educated in the Hyde Park School System, A member of the Fine Gold Ministry and member of Beulah Baptist Church, Poughkeepsie.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Roytiesha Wright; companion, Patricia Galimore of Poughkeepsie; two brothers, James R. Wright, Jr. and wife Priscilla of Brooklyn, NY, Charles E. Wright and sister Michelle K. Jones both of Lindenwold, NJ.
Also survived by devoted aunt, Lorraine Johnson and husband Samuel of Poughkeepsie; uncles, Floyd J. Franklin, Jr. of Millbrook, NY, Robert J. Franklin of Poughkeepsie and Charles G. Franklin and wife Annie of LaGrange, NY; great uncle James E. Davis and wife Dorothy and stepfather, Alfred Herdon, all of Poughkeepsie.
Several nephews and a host of extended family and friends also survive.
First visitation 6pm-9pm Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine Street Poughkeepsie, second visitation 9am-11am Friday, May 27, with services to begin 11am at the church.
Reverend Jesse V. Bottoms with officiate. Internment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

By deepest sympathy to the Wright family. I have known Roy for many, many years, beginning as a teenager in high school. He was one of the nicest people you could have the pleasure of being friends with. Although I had not seen him in many years, he has always held a special place in my heart as a devoted friend. Years after high school, my father would come home from work and talk about how much he loved the new apprentice, Roy and for years we never knew who he was talking about until one day when he came to visit my father after my dad became ill. We lost my dad in September 2007 and now we lose another hard working, devoted family man. All I can say to you is that I hope they are having a good time together in heaven. Roy you will be missed by family and friends alike! Rest in peace!

My condolences to the Wright family. I have never met a person with so much charisma. I worked with Roy for several years at IBM/NXP and enjoyed every second. He was always funny and a gentleman. Wherever Roy was there was usually a crowd surrounding him as he always drew people to him. He would ignite laughter in your worse moments and as I think of him today I have to smile through the pain as I feel he would want it that way.
