Ruth Abbatiello Obituary
Wappingers Falls - Ruth Ann Abbatiello, a local area resident for over 30 years, died on Friday, May 18, 2018 in Pleasant Valley. She was 87.
She was born on December 15, 1930 in Manhattan. She grew up in Yonkers, where she also raised her family and remained up until the 1980s. In 1950, she married Brandy Abbatiello at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Ruth's hobbies included gardening and baking, but above all else, she cherished spending time with her family. She had a generous spirit and throughout her life contributed to countless charitable efforts and organizations.
Survivors include her husband, Brandy, at home; her daughter, Joanne Michelin & her husband Thomas of Hopewell Junction; her son, Joseph Abbatiello & his wife Pina of Wappingers Falls; her daughter, Susan Alfiero & her husband Carmel of Pleasant Valley; her son, Fr. Robert Abbatiello, O.F.M.,Cap. of Yonkers; her grandchildren and their spouses: Joseph (Melissa), Brandi (Chris), Paul (Renee), Alison (James), Nicholas (Michelle), Matthew (Michelle), Lawrence (Lauren), and Sara; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives & friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her grandson, Thomas Michelin, Jr., in 2008.
Calling hours will be held from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. on Monday, May 21 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tueday, May 22 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, scholarship donations may be made to help recruit, educate and train new priests and brothers for a lifetime of service. Donations may be sent to the Province of St. Mary Development Office at Sacred Heart Friary, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY 10703. Please be sure to include: In Memory of Ruth Abbatiello. One of the most kindest and generous neighbor and friend anyone can ask for. A true Angel..You will be missed. Enjoyed halogen seeing the children coming to her door for candy..Gave my grandson hugs when he come visit us. Always had a lil gift for him...Ruth I will miss you dearly. And Heaven has truly gained a Angel. Love you always Bea and Brian Allen. And our son Avary. And truly missed by our grandson Joshua..Loved how he run to your door yelling Mrs Ruth.
