Poughkeepsie, New York - Sabato Dalia, 90, of Poughkeepsie died Saturday June 19, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.

Sabato was born in Moschiano, Avellino, Italy. He was the son of the late Saverio and the late Filomena DelDuca Dalia.

Sabato was a local resident since 1955, after moving to the United States from Italy.

In February of 1952 in Moschiano, Avellino, Italy, Sabato married Antonietta Volino.

Sabato served in the Italy Army. Sabato along with his wife and family owned DD's Pizza on Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie. Sabato was a laborer with Local 1000 and in his younger years worked with his father making lumber.

Sabato was a member of Mount Carmel Church. He loved to grow his tomatoes, gardening, playing Bocci and cards. He also enjoyed going to Mohegan Sun to play the slot machines.

Sabato is survived by his wife Antonietta, his children Dominic and Michele Dalia of Peekskill, Anthony and Margaret Dalia of Wappingers, Franco and Kelly Dalia of Poughkeepsie, his grandchildren Antonietta Dalia, Sabato Dalia, Vincenzo Dalia, Elizabeth (Sean) Davids, Rachel Dalia, Sabato Dalia, Antonietta Dalia, Anthony Dalia, Antonio Dalia and Leo Dalia as well as his brothers Vincenzo Dalia and Antonio Dalia and several great grandchildren.

Sabato was predeceased by his son Saverio Dalia and his sister Maddelana Vona.

Calling Hours will be held Tuesday June 22, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Wednesday June 23, 2021 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Poughkeepsie, with Burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
