I can´t believe it´s been 5 years already. I miss Zoe all the time, our long talks over the phone and we both had a huge passion for cocker spaniels! She dedicated her whole life to the cocker breed. She also did it for her daughters and promised she would be the best cocker breeder. I had cockers from her over the years. Now, I have the beautiful Sabrina she´s 5 now. I often think, I´m heartbroken that Castletop Cockers is over. But at least I have the most beautiful gift from her before she passed.

Zoe was my neighbor in Pleasant Valley for several years, and we shared a love of dogs and organic living. She introduced me to Vitamin C and a wonderful recipe for fondue. Her two daughters were suffering from Cystic Fibrosis, at a time when there was little hope for recovery, but they required daily therapy, which I was able to help her with.
Zoe added a richness to our lives and I am happy to have had the opportunity to know her. I am certain that she has joined her daughters in heaven.

I just re-read the message I sent in 2022, together with a photo of me holding my beloved Tuppence, who is now twelve. What joy I have known with four Castletop cockers! I know we will all meet again...and until then, we thank God for Zoe. May she continue to rest in peace.

It has been 4 years that Zoe passed. It went so fast. I miss her all the time. I can´t believe it is the end of Castletop Cockers, after so many years. I hope Zoe is with her two daughters in heaven. Miss you and RIP

My fourth "Zoe" cocker, Tuppence, is almost ten years old--and I cannot ever bear to think that her life will eventually come to an end. No more Castletop Cockers--what a devastating idea. Zoe was the absolute BEST cocker breeder ever. She lives with the angels and her deceased children now and they all love her to bits--as do we. "Fair winds and a following sea," as the sailors would say. XOXOXO, Eloise and Tuppence

On the anniversary of Zoe´s passing, I still miss her and think about her every day. I miss our long talks over the phone about cocker spaniels, and just life in general. I have a picture of her in my China closet to honor her memory every day. She had wonderful cocker spaniels and dedicated her entire life to breeding and raising world class cockers. She was a very smart and talented lady. She will be sorely missed. Now, I will raise this last pup that I got from her with joy and honor. I wish I could come into contact with other people that have or had her pups as well. Just to talk and share memories. My email is ferrets200@gmail if anyone is interested.

I knew Zoe many years ago when we were neighbors in Pleasant Valley, and her two daughters were still alive and vibrant, even though they struggled through their illness every day. Zoe taught me that it was okay to be different and to live my life accordingly. We shared recipes and ideas for organic living. Her memory will continue to be an inspiration to me. Rest in peace, Zoe.

So sad to learn of Zoe’s passing. I met Zoe in 2014 when she approved our family for the most wonderful black cocker puppy ever...our Sullivan. He was her favorite, a runt who had been bottlefed and loved so much by Zoe. She had a hard time letting him go and had thought about keeping him she told us. I still remember her face in the driveway as we pulled away. I promised her we would love and care for him always and we do, he is my other child! He is the smartest and most obedient dog I have ever adopted and have had Cockers for 25 years. We can’t imagine our lives without him and had hoped to contact Zoe to adopt another puppy at some point who would be related to Sullivan. Very sad we won’t get that opportunity. I know Zoe had many friends waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for her, and her 2 daughters as well. Thank You for choosing us to be Sullivans family Zoe, we are forever grateful.

We just learned of Zoe’s death after receiving a Christmas card sent to her returned. We sent an email with a picture of our Socrates returned and we did not know why. Unfortunately now we know. We picked up our chocolate boy Socrates on June 29, 2019. Of course we had to be interviewed by Zoe so she could verify that we would be good parents to one of her puppies. We passed with flying colors and were introduced to the three puppies Zoe had in her litter that were the color we really wanted. Zoe told us she would pick the puppy she felt would be right for us. When we arrived to pick up Socrates there he was. He has turned out to be the loving boy we needed. We sent Zoe several photos in emails to keep her up to date on his growth. When we received one of those emails returned we knew something was wrong. Zoe was a lovely lady and very protective of her dogs. We love our boy and will always be thankful to her for our Socrates. I am sure she is back together with her two daughters. May her memory be eternal.

News of Zoe's death has come belatedly to me and I grieve that I wasn't more attentive to her (we talked on the phone from time to time, but not since early this year). My late husband and I found Zoe by very happy accident in 1984 when we were ready for a dog. He had a cocker as a boy and I was happy for him to have another (always a buff, like his childhood one). Zoe, as was her style, interviewed us to be sure we were worthy of one of her dogs--and we passed with flying colors! Raffles was our first (always females), followed by Wimsey (always one at a time). After my husband died, I went to Zoe for another dog to keep Wimsey company. I came home with a brown-and-white, but I had no name. A call to Zoe gave me permission to name my new girl after her. Now I have my fourth: Tuppence. She is just as dear as her predecessors. Zoe Tice was a superlative breeder and I will always thank God that we found her. May she rest in peace with her daughters.

Was very to surprised to hear of Zoe's passing. She gave us the greatest gift of our beautiful Cocker Spaniel puppy Jake back in 2006. May she rest in peace.

Such sad news as I searched for why my Zoe email bounced back every time I tried sending. I was trying to reach Zoe to share that my sweet Percy was given the greatest gift of love this month, doggie heaven. Zoe and I chatted on the phone for six hours before our coming to meet her and her wonderful cocker spaniels. Zoe gave such love and care to her cocker spaniels and only let them go to homes worthy of her special puppies. I will miss the connection I maintained with Zoe, we kept in touch for 12 years. God blessed me with Zoe and now she is blessed with joining her daughters. Love you!

It is devastating to lose such a dear friend. I'm heartbroken. Zoe and I go back some time and I've had 4 generations of her Cocker Spaniels, each one unique and precious. Over recent years we became close friends. Zoe was the "Salt of the Earth!" She had a love for writing, conversation, cooking, nature, flowers and birds. She was a very conscientious breeder and took the utmost care in the placement of her precious puppies. Her views on her surroundings, whether it be the birds outside her window or her passion of politics or just a meaningful word such "mindful," and all that she shared will be forever missed. Truly a treasured friendship. Zoe is now with Nomi and Hope again. She was so loved and will be forever missed.

I am devastated. She was a treasure. My husband & I bought our sweet Cluny from her in 2015. I was about to write her an email to check in on her but sadly will not get the chance to connect. Are there any family members we can be in contact with? We would like to help out if we can, in any way. Please contact [email protected]

I am very saddened to hear of Zoe's passing. I have known Zoe and her family for over 50 years. When we were together we would always have much to reminisce about. I will truly miss her.
Those of us who know you, know right where you are. Eternal love. (A time for flowers)

We are so very sorry to learn of Zoe's passing. We purchased two wonderful cocker spaniel puppies (Benji and Charlie) from her in January 2020. We also read her beautiful book, A Time For Flowers, and were so touched by it. It was by far the most powerful book that we have ever read. Zoe was an incredibly talented writer and a wealth of knowledge for cocker spaniel owners. Although we knew Zoe for only a brief time, she had a huge impact on our lives in a very positive way. We will miss her immensely. Rest in peace dear friend. Give Nomi and Hope a hug for us. Until we meet again...
Love,
Linda and Glenn Osterhout (Benji and Charlie too!)
