Florence Cariens Obituary

Florence A. O'Leary was born March 31, 1920 in Carrington, ND the daughter of John Patrick and Mary Louise (Greeno) O'Leary. At the age of 3 her family moved to the Solon area where she attended schools. On January 20, 1938, she was united in marriage to Grant J. Cariens Jr. here in Iowa City. She had worked outside the home over the years, but was most proud of being mom, grandma and great grandma to her family.
Her family includes her children, Evyonne Whetstine of Iowa City; Kenneth Cariens Sr. and his wife, Kathy of Solon; Beverly Bollinger and her husband, John of Iowa City; and Phyllis Keep and her husband, Alan of Lone Tree; 18 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Grant; daughter, Carol Northrup; 4 grandchildren, 7 brothers and sisters.
