Gary Harding Obituary
Iowa City - Gary John Harding, 74, died peacefully Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Gary was born October 9, 1946 in Iowa City, the son of Paul and Dorotha (Walters) Harding. Gary served in the US Army. On February 24, 1984 Gary married Penny Han.
Gary owned and operated Gary Harding Construction Company and was a well-known contractor in the Iowa City area. Gary owned and operated the Black Diamond Bar and Grill and the Jobsite.
He enjoyed time spent golfing, vacationing with friends to warmer destinations, and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his wife, Penny; children and grandchildren, Kelly Woodburn of Iowa City and children, Mackenzie and Madison, Nikki (Jarret) Meade of Windham and Macy, Ryan (Stephanie) Stimmel of Kalona and children, Grey, Gabe, Noah, and Jack, Matthew (Jessica) Harding of West Branch and children, London and River Harding; one great granddaughter, Lucia; siblings, Audrey (Chris) Fountain of Iowa City, Bill (Barby) Harding of Des Moines, Ken (Amy) Harding of North Liberty, Timm (Elisa) Harding of Wimberly, TX, Michele (Shelly) Behrens of North Liberty, Lisa Bush of Cedar Rapids, and Joseph (Marilyn) Bush of Miami, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert and nephew, Chris.
