Boone - Theresa Samuelson, age 85 of Boone, Iowa, died December 24, 2017 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Boone. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone.
Theresa (Duffey) Samuelson, was born in Holbrook, Iowa on April 10, 1932, the daughter of Peter and Bridget (Driscoll) Duffey. She graduated from Ottumwa Heights High School in Ottumwa, Iowa. On August 28, 1954, Theresa married LaVerne Samuelson in Lone Tree, Iowa. She farmed with her husband in Jackson Township, east of Jordan. Throughout the years, Theresa enjoyed traveling, playing golf and bridge, bowling, fishing, and visiting casinos. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Mamie Eisenhower Birthplace, and at her Church, helping on the Funeral Lunch Committee.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Mary Kay Tones; seven brothers, Harold, Eugene, Richard, Regis, Daniel, Peter, and Paul Duffey; two sisters, LaVera Muller and Mary Agnes Schneider. Theresa is survived by a daughter, Lori Robertson of Cedar Rapids; a son-in-law, Chris (Linda) Tones of Iowa City; a sister, Ann (Glenn) Pauley of Coralville; four grandchildren, Wesley Robertson of Cedar Rapids, Melissa (Mike) Vogel of Urbandale, Nicholas Tones of Denver, Colorado, and Caitlin Tones of Davenport; twin great grandchildren, Logan and Caroline Vogel of Urbandale; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, Boone, Iowa, on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 4 until 8 p.m. where a Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. and the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.
In memory of Theresa, memorials may be directed to the Sacred Heart School of Boone, Iowa.
