Alex Fiato Obituary

ALEX FIATO
of Binghamton
Alex Fiato, 89, of Binghamton, N.Y. passed away at his home on August 20, 2001 and joined his loving wife, Mary in eternal rest. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul Anthony and Louise; his brothers, Thomas, Louis, Joseph (Pep), and Anthony; sisters, Rose Gigante and Ernestine Santi. He is survived by his sons, Michael, Alexander, and James Fiato; his grandchildren, Pia and Eric Fiato; a very special son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Rose DiPietro and their children, Pamela, Jody, Marty, Leslie, Carrie, Andrea, and Andrew; his sisters, Rachael Capalaces, and Libertine Pawlyshyn; his dear friend, Irene Horney; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends both old and new. Born 1912, in Boston, he came to Binghamton with his parents as a child. As a young man he worked constantly to help support his widowed mother, brothers and sisters. His caring and support of his siblings was a gift that he continued to give throughout his life. He married Mary Renda on November 24, 1947 and remained forever faithful and in love with her. Alex retired from GE after 25 years in Westover where he made many lifelong friends. He was a wonderful brother, husband, father, and friend to those of us lucky enough to have him in our lives. He was a loving, caring, unselfish man, who gave of himself even when he was at his ebb. Alex will be missed by us all but he will live on within our hearts and minds forever. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. John Putano, Pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the memorial home Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
