Bruce battled cancer for the past year. A stronger, braver man cannot be found. He left this world peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2007, with his family at his side. He has joined his father, Frederick; in-laws, Don and Katie Willis; and his loyal car buddy, Genny. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years, Kathy (Willis); his daughters, Wendi (Matt) Ludington, Endwell, Traci Simrell, Binghamton; and son, Brian (Lyda) Simrell, Virginia Beach; also the three greatest treasures that put a twinkle in his eye, his grandkids, Mark and Kate Ludington and Amber Simrell who all loved to play Grandpa's game, "Who's Sitting In My Chair?" Bruce is also survived by his mom, Esther; brothers, Fred (Joann) and Rick (Carol) Simrell; brother-in-law, Darryl (Ellie) Willis; and sister-in-law, Donna (Bob) Holmes; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bruce was a hard worker and a great provider who recently retired from Lucent Technologies. He was a member of the CWA Local 1190. We will miss him and remember how he always put his family first even until the very end.
