Chauncey DePew Obituary
Endicott - Chauncey J. DePew, 86, of Endicott, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie DePew; son, Allen (Nichols); daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Shawn and Rev. Dr. Charles T. Hast (Rome, NY); step grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many wonderful cousins. Chauncey was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Endicott. He worked at IBM Owego for 35 years. During that time, he worked with the Tomahawk Missile, Apollo Space Shuttle, 1st Manned Orbital Flight of the Space Shuttle and the Course to the Moon Projects. Chauncey served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Baltimore and was on the ship during the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. He was an avid gardener and a bowler since 1958 on the Owego IBM League. He enjoyed sports, NASCAR, playing tennis with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, and white tail deer hunting with his son. Chauncey umpired his daughter's girls' softball team and was a devoted husband and father. The family will receive friends at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 200 Jefferson Ave. Endicott, NY on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Chauncey DePew can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
