Cosmo Parisi Obituary

Parisi, Cosmo A.

Cosmo A. Parisi, 77, of Binghamton, was reunited with his Lord and Savior on February 8, 2015. Cosmo was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Nicolina Parisi; sisters and brothers-in-law, Angie (Milt) Miller, Connie (Tony) Iacovelli, Lucy (Cy) DeSanctis, Josie (Joe) Stento and Julia Dinga. He was survived by his brothers, John Parisi and Mario (Margo) Parisi; brother-in-law, John Dinga; and many nieces and nephews. After graduating from SUNY New Paltz with a degree in Art, Cosmo taught briefly, then chose to pursue his other passion of culinary skills. He spent his life serving our community as owner of Cosmo's bar and restaurant on North Street in Endicott and later re-established in Johnson City as Cosmo's Corner with restaurant, deli and tiki bar. Well known for his generosity and artistic talent, he and good friend Johnny Hart collaborated to create the B.C. character statues donated to En-Joie golf course for the renowned B.C. Open Golf Tournament. A small private gathering will be held in his memory at the convenience of the family.

To Cosmo's family, I didn't know him very well but knew he was the owner of Cosmo's in JC so I would always say Hi. When the first flood came thru I was glad to hear he was going to reopen and when the second flood came and he didn't I had always hoped to run into him to say what about opening it at another location but I did end up picking him up when he was hitch hiking (my first time picking up a hitch hiker) and he was so funny and was telling me stuff that I didn't know and was glad he shared it with me. He will be missed very much.

We were very sad to learn about Cosmo's passing. Cosmo's in J .C. will always have a special place in our hearts as we became engaged there , several years ago.
Throughout the years, we visited the restaurant and the tiki bar, often. We enjoyed the food and how Cosmo always decorated the restaurant for all of the holidays. We will cherish those fond memories. Rest in peace Cosmo, you will be missed.

Cosmo,
It was always a pleasure to have you as a guest at the restaurant, and an honor to serve the man that shaped the ideals of food service in this area. You have had a rough few years following the flood of 2011; that flood took away your livelihood, your restaurant, your purpose. Those bad days are now behind you, and I wish nothing more for you than to have found the peace that you have been searching for. You will be missed.

So many memories...your great food, love of art, thrilled to have NY Giant players at your J.C. Restaurant, staying at your Condo in Ocean City!
The times you gladly helped me by making your special sauce for fundraisers to help others!
The kindness you always showed to me & Zach & Rock.

To his brother John, Cosmo's family and friends,
Please know that many are saddened for the loss of your dear Cosmo. He was a great asset to the community and a great guy. He gave me my first ever job serving pasta and subs to the IBM crowd when he had just opened his restaurant and sub shop with Tony on North Street in 1965/1966. I will always remember him for his sense of humor, love of the Smothers Bros, and being a really kind person. RIP Cosmo, you will always be missed.
