Brown, David K.

David K. Brown, 83 of Endwell, passed away Wednesday April 16, 2014. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ida (Consol) Brown; his parents, George and Dorothy Brown; his brother, Howard (Trix) Brown; his nephews, Gary Brown and Anthony Consol; his in-laws, Dan and Pierina Consol; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nick and Mary Consol, Duff Consol, Ambrose and Mary Consol, Albert Consol, Ernest Carella and Ann "Nina" Halbeisen. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherie (Andrew) Vodopia, Lisa (Frank) Opper; five grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Andrew, Caitlin and Samantha Vodopia, Jeffrey (Nicole) Opper, Joe Opper; one great-granddaughter who was the light of his life, Adelita Opper; his brother and sister-in-law, George "Bud" (Carol) Brown; two sisters-in-law, June Carella and Mary Consol; his brother-in-law, Quinn Halbeisen; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott and a veteran of the US Army serving as a Medic in the Korean War. He was a retired employee of the Endicott Trust Co. and later enjoyed being the "greeter" at Sam's Club. He enjoyed Golfing, Bingo, Scratch Offs and an occasional trip to Tioga Downs. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Not a day will go by that we won't miss and think of you. Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Bowling and his assistant, Pam, the staff of Endwell Family Physicians, and Wilson Emergency for all their compassion and care, also the staff and residents of Castle Gardens for their friendship and care during his residency there. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:30 a.m. from the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church where a Funeral Mass will be held. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.

David K. Brown is my uncle and is one of the most memorable characters of my early life. He lived life with relish and made all those around him feel welcome and cared for. Some people make a very large impact with their lives. My Uncle Dave was one of those people. God bless.

I cannot say how sorry we are for the loss of your Dad. I will always be grateful for him picking up Bob to attend the Korean breakfasts. Both he and your mom were the sweetest people and every time I think of him I can only see his smiling face. They are together again.
