Dave- my gosh 11 years ago you left all of us who know you , in a tragic accident. Still , to this day , I think about you and Judy traveling to an antique fair as you had been doing for many, many years, when this happened. I missed our visits at the mall and you sharing your vast knowledge of ephemera and many other vintage items. I learned a great deal from you. I hope Judy and your sons are well and know you watch over them from heaven. Rest in Peace David.

Dear Decker Family-
I had just learned about Mr. Decker's passing. I had him in 5th grade about 46 years ago. I clearly remember what a fine teacher and person he was. He certainly helped me step up my game as a student. I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm truly sorry to hear of Mr Decker's passing. He was my 5th grade teacher and I, still to this day, speak of him as one of my favorite teachers! And, currently in the teaching profession, I realize what a remarkable person he really was! God's strength and comfort to your family.

Dave was a mentor to me for my first teaching job...5th grade at George H. Nichols. He helped me through many challenges and was professional and had a good sense of humor. He was a good teacher and role model. My sympathy to the family. Linda (Wheeler) Watson

Judy, Joel, and Scott-I was saddened to read of Davids death. I will miss seeing him walking at the mall and gabbing with him. He was always a gentleman when he would stop into our center at the mall to drop his coat off before walking. He was a wealth of knowledge about antiques and ephemra which he had a vast collection of. He certainly contributed to the community in many ways. Please accept our sympathy.

Judy, Joel and Scott. I was so saddened by the news of David's tragic accident. David walked each day at the mall and would stop in to leave his coat and hat at our business. We also talked many times about antiques and I would check out your booth at shows. Judy, I had the pleasure of meeting you with him. He spoke so often of you and his sons. He was a very nice guy and I hope that the memories you have will sustain you through this difficult time. Please accept my sympathy. Carol Demtrak-Moore

To the Decker Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. Mr. Decker was my 5th grade teacher at George H. Nichols and he pushed me both in the classroom and on the playground. Later during my high school days he was the ultimate "stat man" and we managed to keep him busy! A class individual in every sense. God Bless.

Dear Decker Family,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your patriarch.
I believe I was in the first class he ever taught at Geo. H. Nichols I think it was 4th grade. He was a grand teacher! He made me memorize a poem and I still recite it to the kids every year at Christmas. He touched more kids than he will ever know. Yet he made us learn and made it fun.
May your fondest memories of Mr. Decker get you through this very sad time.
And may you find comfort as you all hear how much he was respected and loved by many kids (now adults).
God bless you all and Mr. Decker You live on in your children and grandchildren etc but in your students as well. RIP Mr. Decker.

Dear Decker Family,
I was very sad to hear of Mr. Decker passing away. Even though I never had him for 5th grade, he made a huge impression on me. He was always kind and very knowledgeable; now, 40 years later, as I reminisce it is evident how much he loved the kids. My heart and prayers go out to you all. In time, may your fond memories of him comfort you.

My sincere sympathies to Judy, Joel & Scott. I haven't spoken with Dave in quite some time, but as Church Administrative Assistant at First Baptist for nearly 20 years, I have had many nice conversations with him. I even purchased an autographed Star Trek photo from him for my son one year. May God bless you all with wonderful memories.

Mr. Decker was the first "great" teacher I had. He'd give us monthly projects, in addition to our regular school work, which helped to greatly develop our sense of responsibility. I just learned of his passing, and am crying my eyes out right now.

The news of Dave's untimely death is so sad. He was such a "good guy". I have known Dave since 1982 as a staff member at George H. Nichols and after as a fellow retiree from the U-E District. It was always enjoyable to talk with Dave about an endless variety of topics. He had great knowledge of history, especially the military and the Civil War. My condolences to his family. They must know what an honorable, good person he was and surely have many fond, loving memories.

Mr Decker was the first teacher that saw something in me. He didn't give up. He got me involved in softball, basketball, flag football, lunchtime kickball . He knew I had too much energy and back then no one was on medication we were just high strung high energy kids. He believed in me.. I will be eternally grateful and am saddened to learn of his passing. He was a great, honest , decent and kind man.. Someone we need down here but God must need him more up there... Travel safe..

My condolences to the Family of Dave Decker. He was so well respected for not only his years as an Educator but his giving of his time and energy to help with the Sports Programs at Union Endicott. As so many saw him and appreciated his involvement so will they miss him and his contributions. May he rest in peace and we as a person we will miss him for sure.
