Elaine Goess Obituary
Vestal - Elaine Marie Goess, 70, died unexpectedly on March 9, 2018 at the McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, S.C. She is survived by her husband Alan, son Brian and daughter-in-law Andrea of Travelers Rest S.C., daughter Lauren Belknap of Syracuse, and her granddaughter Alexa Marie Belknap and grandson Tyler Matthew Belknap, both of Syracuse.
Born in Johnson City, NY, on December 10, 1947, and daughter of the late Walter and Helen Sadlowski, Elaine received her BA degree from SUNY Cortland. For over twenty years, she was a passionate English teacher in both the junior high school and senior high school in the Binghamton school district.
Following her teaching career, Elaine enjoyed traveling with her husband on frequent cruises and on trips to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Europe, as well as to their condo in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where she was often joined by friends and family. The arrival of Alexa ten years ago, and Tyler two years later, brought her great joy, and much of her time was spent with her grandkids.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 21 2018, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal, NY. A small luncheon will follow. Internment at the Saint Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Johnson City will be private. She will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in celebration of Elaine's life may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name.

I will always remember her as a strong influence in my life. She was one of my teachers at East Middle in 1987. I'll never forget her.

Dear Alan and Family,
I was so sorry to read about Elaine's unexpected death. I know she was so excited to be able to vacation in the condo in SC. I remember when you first purchased it. Alan, it's good to know you and she had many happy vacations there. Lauren and Brian, your mother was so proud of both of you. We shall be thinking of you.

Alan and family,
My friendship with Elaine started many, many years ago in Grade K at St. Stans and all the way though JCHS. I haven't seen Elaine since we bowled together in a womens league years ago; but, I have thought of her many years throughout the years. Missed seeing her at reunions and other times. My thoughts are great memories of past years and now my thoughts and prayers are for all of you and Elaine. I wish I could be there on Apr. 21, but I will be out of state.
