Elbert Luce Obituary
Elbert Rodney "Al" Luce moved to heaven on January 24, 2017, from the Brandley Hospice in Summerfield, Florida, the result of an extensive infection. He joined his parents, Bert and Pauline Luce and sister Zelda. He was born April 19, 1927. He survived by Joan, his wife of 67 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by five children; Rodney (Brenda) Luce of Clayton, NY; Randy (Maryalice) Luce of Binghamton, NY; Renee ( Roger) Teed of Chambersburg, PA; Robin Foster of Laurel, MD; and Rust (Kelley) Luce of Fort Meyers, Fl. Two sisters also survived; Sandra Luce of Hallstead, PA and Carol Schiebert of NJ. He greatly enjoyed his 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Al's first line of service was to the US Navy, serving in WWII. Many years later, he retired from another kind of services as services manager from the ford Dealership in Vestal, NY. He was also a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Kirkwood, NY serving there as an usher and steward. He was a skilled handyman and car mechanic, using these skills to help others.
He summered on Grindstone Island on St. Lawrence River for 48 years. He and Joan traveled the US extensively during their retirement and settled in Lady Lake, FL where they wintered for many years.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Conklin Forks United Methodist Church, Conklin, NY on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The family will receive friends from 11am-12noon and the services will be held immediately after.

Dear Joan and family,
So many memories growing up with all the Kirkwood (Langdon) Church family! But I'll always gratefully remember Al granting my special wedding request: A beautiful baby blue Ford with air-conditioning to transport us from the ceremony to reception!
He was an exceptional man. I know you all must greatly miss him, but some day.....we'll have a glad reunion.

To Al's family,
I am so sorry for your loss and you have my deepest condolences. I was in the same Sunday School class as Renee and remember Al and the family. I always thought of Al as such a humble man. You are all in my thoughts & prayers.
