Glen Stark Obituary

Glen R. Stark
of Nichols
When someone you love becomes a memory…the memory becomes a treasure. Our hearts were saddened on Thursday, June 14, 2007, with the sudden passing of our loving husband, father, son and brother, Glen R. Stark. Glen, a son of Louis and Marie (Blair) Stark was born on August 28, 1947 in Crete, Nebr. He was a graduate of Owego Free Academy High School and a veteran of the US Navy. Glen was a well known and respected contractor and owner of "Stark's General Contracting." He was also a school bus driver for the Tioga Central School District. Glen enjoyed spending time at his home by the river, taking leisurely rides on his motorcycle and being with his family and friends. He was a board member of the Nichols American Legion, past member of the Nichols-Tioga Lions Club, and a volunteer for the Community Care Network. Glen was always willing to help those in need. He was a quiet and gentle man with a very caring heart. In addition to his parents, Louis and Marie; he is survived by his wife of 32 years, A. Jean Stark; a daughter, Margot Stark; sisters, Suzanne Goodrich, Cindy Stark and husband, Lark Dick, Tui Stark, and husband Robert Reckert and their children, Logan, Kelly and Sean. Several sisters-in-law and their spouses, and numerous close friends, who are like family to Glen, also survive. Glen enjoyed spending time outdoors and being surrounded by nature.
A time of remembering and sharing for family and friends will be held at the family's home on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, from 4-7 p.m. Flowers will be provided by the family. Friends are encouraged to remember the Community Care Network of Nichols, PO Box 100, Nichols, N.Y. 13812, in loving memory of Glen R. Stark. Caring assistance is being provided by the Cooley Family of the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, Nichols.

Glen was so generous with his time and energy. When he helped my mom recently, she said, What a gentleman he is." That too, is my lingering impression...a man of integrity but mingled with a huge dose of common sense. He will be sorely missed. David and I keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Jean, Margot, Lou & Marie. We were so sad to hear about Glen. He was a great man and he will be sorely missed. He took Tommy under his wing a few summers ago and taught him quite a bit about carpentry and home repair. That meant a great deal to Tommy and us. We all loved Glen and will miss him. Jean and Margot, we love you very much and will keep you in our prayers. As we just lost Reggie's father in November '06, we understand all too well what you are feeling right now. It will be difficult at first, but you will get through this. Love always, Your cousins in NC

Stanton Hill and the people of Nichols will always remind me of some of the best days of my life. Glen was the best of the people with his spirit of honesty and realness. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to know such a person. His spirit will always be in the caring he gave and received from his community, friends and family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

How very sad to hear of Glen’s passing. We are fortunate to have known Glen as a friend, and also as a good neighbor for several years. He was the type of person who does things rather than talk about them, and who made his community a much better, caring place to live. We will remember his skill and patience as a craftsman, and his dedication to his family —especially the story of him working with Margot to teach her auto mechanics as together they worked on her first car to get it up and running! Jean, Margot, Lou and Marie, and his other family members are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

To the Stark family,

I am shocked and saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Glen. This was one monumental gentleman. He was more than just my handyman. Anyone who knew Glen knows that he was a gentle giant. The world has lost a great teacher (of life) and as well as a wonderful friend.

Love,

Ken and Louise Lindsey

I was shocked to hear of the passing of Glen. What can I say, but my heart goes out to his wife, daughter, family and friends. Over the past 20 years he did a lot of work for me. He didn't always agree with the direction I wanted to take, but he completed the job with the true craftsman he was. His humor will always be something to remember. He was taken way to early! My prayers are with you all.
