Rinker, Guy William "Bill"

Guy William "Bill" Rinker, 97, of Deposit, NY passed away February 14, 2015 at Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal. Bill was born December 8, 1917 in Waverly, NY to Guy and Olive Rinker. After graduating from Nichols High School and Lowell's Business School, he began working for the Deposit Courier, retiring in 1982. Bill was a volunteer fireman with the Deposit Fire Department, serving as secretary for many years. Bill was involved with many organizations throughout the years including Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol and the Historical Society. He was President of Laurel Hill Cemetery for many years until failing health forced his retirement. Bill was "Mr. Repairman" for many area residents that had non-working appliances or engines. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, sister, brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews and his wife of 56 years, Helen "Cookie" Rinker. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Hettie Rinker, many nieces and nephews and dear friend and companion, Margaret Warner. A memorial service will be held graveside at Laurel Hill Cemetery in the spring at a time to be announced by the Zacharias Funeral Home in Deposit.

I remember Bill installed a light on his garage, so neighborhood kids could sleigh ride after dark.
