John Corbin
of Brooklyn, Pa.
John Corbin, 97, of Brooklyn, Pa., passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at the home of his son. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Emma [Pensak] Corbin. They started the Corbin turkey business in 1940 and remained active in the business through the 1990's. He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hop Bottom, Pa. His greatest enjoyment came from numerous family gatherings, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family pinochle games and working with the chain saw. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Ronald Schoner, Hallstead, Pa., Dorothy and Gil Chapel, New Milford, Pa.; and one son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Ann Corbin, Brooklyn, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Sandra Rose, Dawn Mansfield, Brian Chapel, Ronalyn Holly, John III and David Corbin; four great-grandchildren, Britany and Austin Rose, Garrett and Morgan Mansfield; three sisters, Anna Herman, Tunkhannock, Pa., Catherine Tugend, Acre Lake, Pa., and Freida Phelps, Hop Bottom, Pa.; and one brother and sister-in-law, Elwood and Edith Korban, Hop Bottom, Pa. Besides his wife Emma, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gus, Rudolph, Carl, Albert and William.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 Greenwood Street, Hop Bottom, Pa. 18824. The family will receive friends Friday, August 5, 2005, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, A Selected Independent Funeral Home, 74 Church Street, Montrose, Pa. 18801. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to his church or to a charity of choice.
