John S. Kolodzej
of Endicott
John S. Kolodzej, 96, of Endicott, passed gently on the feast of St. Joseph into the arms of Jesus and the Immaculate Mother at his home, surrounded by his loving family and dear friend and physician, Dr. John Perry. He was predeceased by his parents, Sophia and Joseph Kolodzej; his sister, Mary Seliga; his brothers, Joseph Kolodzej, Jr., Fr. Alfred Kolodzej, Dominick Kolodzej, and Stephen Kolodzej; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anna and John Pado. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Mary (Pado) Kolodzej, Endicott; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne K. and John L. Dowd, Endicott; his granddaughter, Lynn Ann Dowd-Giebel and her husband, Brian, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Sr. M. Aquina, Danville, Pa., Elizabeth Kolodzej Pinto, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; six sisters-in-law, Anne Macek, Elizabeth Esposito, Joyce Kropp, all of Florida, Kathleen Kolodzej, Binghamton, Anna Kolodzej and Mildred Kolodzej-Cechanek, both of Endicott; also several very loving and attentive nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Slovak Catholic Church since its inception, where he dedicated 72 years of loving service to his church, the Lourdes Shrine and St. Joseph's Parochial School as their only custodian. He also retired from Endicott Johnson after 47 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph's Holy Name, the Altar Rosary Society, and the Jednota Society. The family expresses sincere thanks to Lourdes Hospice for all the care extended to John.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 207 Hayes Ave., Endicott. Burial will follow in Slovak Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at St. Joseph's Church, Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. The Altar Rosary Society will meet Wednesday morning, 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to St. Joseph's School, 207 Hayes Ave., Endicott. Arrangements are by the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc.
