I had the opportunity to experience Mr. Biggers play the organ at Old Salem. The program was magnificent. This occurred sometime in 1983. I knew his brother Mr. Fred Biggers in Burlington, NC. Ironically, I was employed by Winston-Salem Attorney in Statesville, NC. Alan G. Carpenter, for 13 years part-time --his brother was the organist at Old Salem for 20 some years or so and I traveled to Winston Salem and heard him play sometime in the early 2000's?. This was the Carpenter family that founded the little flower shop below international-renown Baptist Hospital. Alan's dad lived beside Forsyth Country Club in Winston Salem. This is a pre-1929 Scottish golf Course design by the famous designer Donald Ross. Ross designed Pinehurst's 5 courses for I believe Carnagie family in the early 1900's. I am thankful I was able to experience Jonathan Biggers and Mr. Carpenter's brother play the famous organ at Old Salem. Thank you!!!

My deepest condolences to Jonathan's family. It is hard to believe a year has passed. I think of Jonathan often and I pass onto my students what I had the privilege of learning from him. So many times I wish I could email him or call - he is missed greatly. He demanded and commanded respect and rightfully so. I admired him tremendously.

I had the privilege and honor of being coached by Jonathan and shared many lovely dinners and bottles of wine as he generously and graciously hosted me at his home. I assumed he would be part of my life for many years to come. I'm deeply saddened. My sincere condolences to his family. He valued his friends and nurtured his relationships. People were important to him. The many life lessons he taught me I will always remember and cherish.

From Gillian Howie, widow of Dr. Mike Howie: I will always remember Jonathan with great fondness. My husband and Jonathan were good friends, despite their differences in age and professional background. Jonathan our young and talented full-time organist came to our home for many a meal that would last into the wee hours. Thanks to him many of us at Holy Trinity, Geneva were spoiled with beautiful music and a lovely person who quickly became an important member of our congregation, loved by young and old alike. We will remember him and keep him in our thoughts and prayers.

A tremendous loss for his family, the Binghamton University community and the larger world of classical organ music. Jonathan was a true professional who brought high standards to every endeavor. He was a terrific teacher, mentor and friend to my son Mark and will be remembered fondly. Rest In Peace.

We're all still reeling. Fred and Caroline, Claire and Sam, I hope you are comforted by all the folk who have come forward with love and memories of Jonathan's warm and caring side. I can't think of him without an ache in my chest. Such an untimely loss.
