Kyle Muzzy Obituary

Muzzy, Kyle Adam

Kyle Adam Muzzy entered the world with enthusiasm during the blizzard of 1983, on January 15th. He immediately won the hearts of his parents with a twinkle in his baby blue eyes and a halo of blond hair. He carried the blue eyes but sported a shaved head until the date of his passing, July 14, 2016 and will spend eternity with his loving father. Those who took the time to know Kyle, found he was a quiet soul who yearned to be outgoing. He was often found on the side of a wrestling mat, offering encouragement or using his quick wit to elicit a laugh. Kyle had many passions, wrestling, the Finger Lakes trail, his family and friends, Jewish apple cake and being the first to rise on Christmas mornings. His laugh could draw the sun on a cloudy day and even though he could push your buttons, he was quick to apologize and always full of love. His kind heart will forever be etched on all of ours. Kyle had an untapped intelligence. He graduated from OACS in 2002. He achieved a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from SUNY Oneonta. He began a lifelong career working with the disabled in many capacities, including coaching for the Special Olympics. Kyle was an accomplished athlete. He wrestled not only in high school but also on the college level and once "retired", continued in a coaching capacity. He as an Atlanta Braves fan and was a typical farm-raised 4-H member. Kyle leaves behind a family that loves him unconditionally. His Mother, Roberta Williams Muzzy. His sisters; Megan Muzzy Kappauf (Clayton) and their children, Colette, Ahnalee, Dagfinn and Calista, Katlyn Muzzy Quick (Matt) and their two daughters, Fern and Aspen, and Malorey Muzzy (Brian Day). His fiancé, Autumn Layton and her son Ricky, whom Kyle loved as his own. He also leaves behind numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins who will continue to love him for eternity. He was predeceased by his father, Douglas C. Muzzy, his paternal grandparents, Douglas S. Muzzy and Ruth C. Muzzy and his maternal grandparents, Isabel L. Alger and Gerald B. Williams. A special thanks to all who have helped in some way, no matter how small, but especially Cory Vigus and family for unending support, love and hard work. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 17th from 1-3pm at the Behe Funeral Home with funeral services immediately after. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Kyle's life at the family farm in Oxford after the services. A private family burial will follow at the Warn-ten Broeck Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Blackhawk Wrestling Booster Club, c/o NBT bank.

I just heard about Kyle and I am so shocked and saddened. He had beautiful blue eyes and a beautiful smile. We worked at the same agency in Ithaca, and he left to start a new job. I wished him all the best as the new job would be closer to family. So sorry for their huge loss...my deepest sympathy to all of his family. I remember when Kyle told me he was from Oxford, I had to tell him my Hoppie's stories from years ago, and eating ice cream from a kitchen sink! He knew all about it!!

My thoughts and prayers are with Kyle and his family. It was a pleasure to have been a part of Kyle's early days at Oxford and wrestling. He was a great teammate and person. He will surely be missed.
God bless.

Thank you for all the smiles and laughs. I will miss your quiet and unwavering strength. You were a true friend since we met all those years ago. Glad we re-connected and navigated difficult times together. I will miss you, Bud. And walk in gratitude for having known you. Thank you for the gift of you. Peace.
