So many years have passed us by, years we should have been making more memories, sharing our family stories or just getting together for a good laugh.
Those years are lost to us for many reasons, our very busy lives or the distance of miles between us.
But one thing I will always have is my great memoroies, starting when I was little and you were there. The day you so proudly walked me down the aisle on my wedding day....34 years ago, to our last phone phone call, although so long ago, when we talked and laughed and ended the call with "I love you"
You were a very special man to me Uncle John, and I will always love you.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dad, I still can’t believe you are gone. I keep hoping that this is just a terrible dream and soon I will wake up. In all reality though I know that isn’t going to happen. I know you already know this because I have told you over a million times but really it can never be said enough….I love you so very much and you have always meant the world to me. In my eyes you are and always will be my father. I am so grateful to you for welcoming me into your heart and home, then raising me as your own. I’m so very blessed to have had you in my life. I thank you so very much for being my grandfather and my father, I am so very lucky and honestly couldn’t have ever asked for more. You are the strongest and of course most stubborn man I have ever known and I feel those characteristics are what helped keep you with us for so many years. So thank you for being stubborn and strong because I got the chance to spend a lot of time with you. You taught me so much, provided me with so much love and made me feel so safe. I still feel safe knowing you are up above watching over us. The time and memories that we have shared I will treasure and cherish for the rest of my life. This is honestly one of the hardest things I have ever had to experience and I know that in time I will get through it because you will be by my side helping me. I won’t say good bye because I know in my heart and soul that you are not gone forever, I’ll see you again someday. I am really going to miss you Dad. Love always and forever your daughter

Mom Shoemaker, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Atleast dad isn't suffering anymore, it will be hard for awhile to get used to not having him around especially all the years you were together. I love you both, you are like a real family to me. I will miss him along w/ everyone that crossed his path will miss Dad (his corkey sense of humor)..Everyone and anyone that knew Dad will have a great story to say about him. He was a great person.
Hang in there Mom in a few weeks you can sit back and relax alittle start taking care of your own health the worst is over for dad now its time for you to start taking care of your health.
