Nancy Keeler Obituary

Nancy Bertholf Keeler
Nancy Bertholf Keeler, 77, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009, after a long illness. She was born on May 22, 1932 in Binghamton, NY, the daughter of Ward and Geraldine Bertholf. Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, C. Addison (Addy) Keeler, Jr. She was also predeceased by her brother, David Bertholf; and her nephew, Jeffrey Bertholf. Nancy is survived by her brother, Ward (Anne) Bertholf; daughters, Martha (Thomas) Macinski, Molly Ann Keeler, and Mary Jane Keeler (Adrian Berridge); sons, James Robert Keeler and Charles Benjamin Keeler; grandchild, Sarah (Adam) Sperry; great-grandchild, Dorothy Sperry; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy met her future husband, Addy, in The Clef Club of Binghamton; their shared love of music lasted throughout their marriage. Nancy was a kindergarten teacher in her earlier years, and became a full-time mother when oldest daughter, Martha, was born. She was a devoted wife and mother, an avid gardener and lover of nature. Nancy encouraged her children to explore their community and discover their talents through an array of scouting, music, recreational and educational activities. An early environmentalist, Nancy promoted and encouraged recycling through the Girl Scouts. Throughout her life, Nancy volunteered her time and efforts with the Binghamton Junior League, the Girl Scouts, First Presbyterian Church, Binghamton Garden Club and the Monday Afternoon Club. Nancy and her husband Addy enjoyed gardening, birding and traveling in their retirement.
We will celebrate Nancy's life on Friday, December 18, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Binghamton, 42 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. that day.

My wife, Jane Antes, was a very close friend of Nancy. They were Binghamton Garden Club members in the 1980s and 90s. I enjoyed outings, particularly birding, with Nancy, Addy, and my wife. Please accept my sincere condolences. Tony Antes.
