Samuel Campbell Obituary

Campbell, Samuel E.

"Sam"

Samuel E. Campbell, "Sam," born January 10th, 1929, gained his angel wings on March 10th, 2014. Sam was predeceased by his parents, Lillian Stebbins Campbell Card and Vern Campbell; sisters, Margie Payne and half sister, Betty; brother, David Card; and son, Robert W. Campbell. Sam is survived by the love of his life of 64 wonderful years, Nina B. (Card) Campbell; brother, Lawrence Campbell (FL); daughter, Shirley J. Weyant (Vestal); granddaughter, Nicole L. Weyant-Fisher and grandson-in-law, Michael Fisher, his "sports buddy" (Vestal) and the person who brightened his days, his great-grandson, Collin Fisher; as well as many nieces and nephews. Sam was a paratrooper in the Army 82nd Airborne. He also held the title of Surgical Tech in the military. After the Army, he married his soul mate and raised a family and enjoyed spending time with each and every one of them. Nina and Sam enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, which they made many of along the way, participating in every way they could with their church (Community Baptist in Apalachin), and playing what became the family game, "Hand and Foot." Sam was always there to lend his hand to a fellow friend and loved to plant a garden with his wife. Sam was strong, caring, and giving. He had a tough outside but his granddaughter will tell you he had a soft heart. He retired from E. A. Link after 40 years and you could always find him sitting on the porch at one point in the day. Sam had a long and wonderful life with his family and friends. He was strong all the way til the end. Forever he will always be in our hearts and in our wonderful memories. Special thank you to Wilson NT3 staff on his second admission: Katie, Lizette, Joshua and Kristen, Dr. Victoria Mirza and Dr. Christine Fenlon for their time and compassion with Sam and family. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 12 Noon at the Community Baptist Church, 1708 Main St., Apalachin, NY with the Rev. Jeremy Lundmark officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Apalachin, NY in the Spring. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott, NY on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
