Timothy McGovern Obituary

McGovern, Timothy

Timothy F McGovern (Tim) of Endicott, went home to the lord on Thursday October 26,2017 in the care of Lourdes Hospice. Born on March 3,1965 to Robert and Beverly McGovern, he was a lifelong resident of Broome County. Tim was predeceased by his parents Robert and Beverly, and his brother Tom. He is survived by his wife Sheila (Kane) McGovern. 2 son Sean McGovern of Apalachin, and Ryan McGovern of Endicott, and daughter Kathleen (Katie) McGovern of Endicott. Sisters Karen (Edwin) Thompson of Johnson City, Nancy McGovern of Johnson City, and Patricia (Michael) Kintner of Attleboro,MA. 2 brothers Robert and William McGovern. Sister-in-law Bunny McGovern. Father-in-law James Kane, and brother-in-law Thomas and Karen Kane. Many nieces and nephews. Tim graduated from Johnson City High School in 1983,and attended Broome Community College, where he earned an electrical engineering degree. He also went on to earn Certificates and Licenses pertaining to his work as a home inspector. This was a job Tim absolutely loved, and took great pride in showing people the house they were buying, and how to take care of it. He was one of the best home inspectors in the business. Tim also worked at Singer Link in Quality control, and worked at Friehofer's for many years. When Tim wasn't working, he coached his son's in Little League Baseball in West Corners, often spending his summers coaching All Star Teams. Tim and his family are members of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Maine, NY, where he took on the role of keeping the Church buildings running smoothly. At church Tim met Emil Stastny who introduced Tim to the Knights of Columbus, and the Endicott Sertoma Club. There was no end to Tim's energy when it came to volunteering. As a member of the Knights he was instrumental in acquiring an Ultra Sound machine for the Women's Pregnancy Center. He also volunteered for many benefits and charity golf tournaments with his good friend Jay Cahill. Together they raised many thousands of dollars for charity. When Tim was part of an organization he gave his all, he led by example and also stepped up to take postions of President,Treasurer,Secretary, and Board Member to help each organization further its success. Tim touched many lives with his love and sense of humor. He was an inspiration to all, a true humanitarian. Tim's family would like to thank family, friends, and Lourdes Hospice for the outpouring of support, love, and kindness during this very stressful time. We are truly blessed.

A Memorial Mass to celebrate Tim's life will be offered Thursday at 10AM from Most Holy Rosary Church St Rt 26, Maine, NY. The family will receive friends at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home LLC,300 East Main St Endicott on Wednesday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Mercy House 212 North McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760, or to the American Cancer Society 13 Beech St, Johnson City, NY 13790.

Sean, Ryan, Katy and Sheila,

I am so sorry to hear of Tim's passing, although I am glad to know he is no longer suffering as he was and is in a much better place now. I extend my condolences to the entire McGovern family during this difficult time.

Tim bowled for several years with us in the former Endicott Knights of Columbus Bowling League at Ideal Lanes and was always a strong competitor on the lanes and a mentor to his fellow bowlers. I am happy that Sean, Ryan and Katy are carrying on the family bowling tradition.

Rest in Peace Tim!

We have such fond memories of Tim, beginning in West Corners' Baseball. We are so appreciative of all the time and energy he gave to the community, especially the youth, even when he was ill himself.

We will always remember him leading the Sertoma club to help set up the tents for our annual ALS walk. Always giving, always kind.

Our sincere sympathy to your family. He will be missed.

Sheila, Pat and I are deeply sad about Tim's death at such a young age, and thought he could beat this canser. Tim was such a strong person willing to help others such as myself along with his best friend and mine Jay Cahill when I had a near death accident 22 years ago. sincerely Jay and Pat Witter
