Tricia Valles Obituary

Tricia Bohnenberger Valles
of Tampa, Fla.
Tricia Bohnenberger Valles, 34, of Tampa, Fla. and formerly of Endwell, N.Y., died peacefully on September 5, 2007. Tricia was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, George and Catherine Bohnenberger. She is survived by her devoted husband of 10 years, Raul Valles, Jr.; her parents, George and Patricia Bohnenberger; her sister, Kristin Henn, husband, David and their children, Erik and Kyle; her brother, Michael Bohnenberger; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Ellen Judge; Raul's caring family; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Tricia was a graduate of Maine-Endwell High School, Binghamton University and Duke University School of Law. She was a partner in the law firm of Morgan, Lamb, Goldman and Valles in Tampa. "It's not the years in the life, but the life in the years". Tricia had abundant life in her years and considered herself very blessed. She had the abiding love and support of her husband, her family, her law partners and staff, and many close friends. As an eight-year breast cancer survivor, Tricia battled her way to many victories. The family wishes to thank Dr. Susan Minton, Dr. Karen Fields, Vickie Trallo, RN, Lisa Pothaust, PA, and the supportive staff at Moffitt Cancer Center for their exceptional care and concern for Tricia. Tricia had a deep awareness of the Lord's presence in her life and was grateful for the many friends – old and new - who traveled this journey with her.
The family will receive visitors 6-9 p.m. Friday, September 7, with a Catholic wake service to begin at 7:30 p.m., at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 6802 Silver Mill Dr., Tampa. The Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, September 8, at 12:00 p.m., Church of the Incarnation, 5124 Gateway Dr., Tampa. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to consider a donation in Tricia's memory to Give Kids the World Village at 210 S. Bass Rd., Kissimmee, Fla. 34746 or at www.gktw.org.

My deepest condolences to all those close to Tricia. It is difficult to think of my high school days without smiling and thinking about her. She was brilliant, funny, an amazing athlete, and totally full of energy. Her strength to live a full, positive, and productive life despite the challenges to her health is inspirational. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. I certainly will.

Dear Bohnenberger Family, I first met Tricia about 3 years ago at the office Xmas party- Raul and my husband Jim worked together at the time. I had been wanting to meet her. I was still recovering from breast cancer chemo, etc. myself, but admittedly was not looking forward to the inevitable cancer chat during the party. She allowed only about 90 seconds for the topic, grabbed another beer and then kicked my butt at ping pong. She kicked everyone else's, too. Humorous, entertaining and relentless all at the same time. Any self pity that I was still entertaining evaporated that night. She made an impression that sort of jolted me, and she continued to do so each time I saw her. I wonder how many other women she uplifted along her journey- in Moffitt waiting rooms, etc. Certainly, there were many. I did not know her well, but I will be inspired by her for the rest of my life. I last saw Raul at the 3-DAY in October, I saw Tricia many times along the walk as well, feeding and cheering for everyone that passed. My team was walking for me, but I walked for Tricia and I will continue to do so. My heart and thoughts are with you. I am so sorry, Becky Craig

Dear Bohnenberger family,

I knew Tricia from SUNY and kept in touch from time to time afterwards. I followed her on her journey over the past several years through Carepages. I do not have to tell you how exceptional a person she was and how she was an inspiration to us all. Please know that we have all learned a great deal from her experience - most importantly, how to live life to the fullest. That is something she most certainly did well. It is a lesson we will always remember.

Pat & George and extended family: Ann and I were so sad yesterday to learn of Tricia's passing. We recall, of course, her years on various soccer teams and her prominent roles on each of them. We also remember leadership qualities that were evident even in such small matters as making certain the girls on Chestnut Street paid their rent!
We know that as a family you gave all you had to make her whole and in that respect we all have learned what love and caring is all about.
We will alert those BU teammates who have scattered here and there about their collective loss.
Again - our thoughts are with you. Love - Tim & Ann

I am extremely sad to hear about Tricia's death. Our Vestal vs. ME games were intense and we became friends by playing Empire State Games and Olympic Development Program (ODP). We spent many long weekends playing soccer and having some great times. Tricia was a very tough athlete that I disliked playing against and perfered her on the same team. She made everyone around her stronger. We laughed a lot and had many special times together as young athletes. I look at our pictures together and it seems like yesterday. I will always remeber her smile and that unique voice.
Thinking of you all.......

Raul, Mr. and Mrs. Bohnenberger and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. I have so many great memories of Tricia (and Mr. B too) from our soccer days-she was a force to be reckoned with then and all through this incredible journey she faced. It was awe inspiring to read her carepage entry everyday. Through her words she taught courage to those not so brave, faith to those in doubt, and humor to those needing a good laugh. Please draw comfort from the knowledge that she earned her wings long, long ago. May God Bless you all.

Dear friends and family of Tricia:

It doesn't seem that long ago that Tricia traveled with me and our group to discover the wonders of Spain in April of 1990. Our Spanish friends kept telling me about what a wonder exchange student she was, how she make friends with so many people, and "wore her heart on her sleeve."

We still remember Tricia fondly at Maine-Endwell High School and we share in your loss.

Sincerely,

September 6, 2007

May her light guide your way during times of sadness, and may you be comforted by the knowledge that love's eternal light will forever shine.God bless you all and God bless Tricia.

Tricia worked for me many years ago at Ponderosa in Johnson City. I remember her as someone who knew what she wanted out of life and always worked hard toward reaching those goals. "Quit" was not a word in her vocabulary then, or it seems ever. I remember her fondly. God bless Tricia, her family and many friends who share in this deep loss.
