Joseph McCLELLAND Obituary

Joe went to rest on March 8, 2013, at the age of 84, with his loving wife, Donna McClelland, by his side and is now at peace. He was the cherished father of Katherine McClelland, John McClelland (Ann), Matthew McClelland (Ken Ferraris), and the late Andrew McClelland. A loving step-dad to Lisa Biddle-Dedmore and Amy McClintock. He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren: Courtney Bullen, Alicia Bullen Carpenter (Adam), Lindsey Bullen, Christine McClelland, Laura McClelland, Austin Gradek, Chad Gradek, Mason McClintock, and Isabella Dedmore. Also survived by a loving mother-in-law, Jettie Hempe, and sister-in-law Debra Frame. Joseph was born in Denver, Colorado on August 14, 1928, where he went to high school and then attended the University of Denver after serving as a Navy pilot in the Korean War. He has lived in Santa Rosa since 1968, and was very active in the community, including as a volunteer for the Police Department, a job he loved up until just a few weeks ago when he took his last swing around Santa Rosa in the patrol car. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Santa Rosa Bible Church, 4575 Badger Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Hospice, Redwood Empire Food Bank, or the American Cancer Society.

Starting with Joe's original days at The Sea Ranch the only thing my father and Joe could or would talk about is flying. They will both be flying about us together now. A great and wonderful person.

Altho i did not know Mr. McClelland i do remember him distinctly seeing him in Santa Rosa operating the SRPD Volunteer vehicle over the years. When i would run into him face to face he was very polite and professional and was impressive to me. I am sorry for his families loss he seemed like a wonderful human being and in giving his time and energy at no cost to us to make our city a better place. RIP Joseph
