Oscar McGregor Obituary

Oscar Douglas McGregor
January 9, 1937 - March 26, 2022
Oscar (Dougie) McGregor was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. He spent four years in the Air Force, serving overseas. Oscar enjoyed a 40-year career with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as Captain of a derrick boat named the "Raccoon". He spent much of his time after retirement pursuing his passion for auto racing. This included pit crewing for close friends and family, as well as a Nascar K&N series team.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karin; children: Liane Elrod (Jimmy); Michael McGregor (Christine); James McGregor (Gina); Harry Brown (Nancy); Jerry Brown; Richard Brown; 23 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Gordon McGregor (Carolyn). He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Terri Brown; daughter-in-law, Vickie Brown; and wives, Lilian Gail McGregor and Juanita Kelly.
Residing in Rohnert Park for over 55 years, Oscar was a Scout Master, sharing his love of the outdoors with his sons. This created a long tradition of multiple annual family camping trips, sharing stories around the campfire and watching his beloved children and grandchildren grow.
Oscar was loved beyond measure and his loss will forever leave a hole in our hearts. He was kind, caring, gracious and generous. He lived his life to the fullest with no regrets.
A public viewing will be held at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma on Friday, April 1 from 6-8 P.M. The burial will be at 11 A.M., Saturday, April 2 at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. A celebration of life will follow on Sunday, April 3 at Barn N' Barrel Farms, 3150 Pepper Road, Petaluma from 1-4 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Oscar's name.

I miss you so much. This past year has been hard to say the least.
I look at the stars or a sunset and instantly think of you and what you would say.
Thinking of you climbing on your roof with your telescope to look at the constellations makes me giggle.
You were one of a kind and Ii will forever hold you in my heart. I love you so much grandpa. Xoxoxo love your brownie.

Oscar Douglas was and always will be my grandpa. We miss him dearly everyday. The stories he told we so interesting, like hearing how much milk was or when he would take my dad camping and the bears would get into their food.
He will forever live in our hearts. I love you grandpa.

You have always been my father it was destiny you came into our lives when you did. Thank you for being our life saver and for giving us the wisdom and knowledge we now share with our own children. We will always love you and will keep you alive in our hearts. There will be many times we will talk to you, and ask questions to which we already have the answers to because of you, but we will ask them anyway. We LOVE You Dad
