Patricia HURLEY Obituary

HURLEY, Patricia Tonelli Patricia Tonelli Hurley, age 64, passed away unexpectedly at UCSF in San Francisco on March 6, 2018. She was born in Chicago in 1953, a daughter of Rudolph and Gloria Tonelli. She is survived by her husband, J. Patrick Hurley; daughter, Vanessa Beth Hurley, and son, Matthew Michael Hurley; her mother, Gloria Ann Tonelli; a brother, Richard (Christine) Tonelli; and a sister, Carla Tonelli. Patti was a dental hygienist in Santa Rosa and practiced with her husband Patrick Hurley for 32 years. Following his retirement, she practiced for the last 5 years with Dr. Cherylin Wyatt. Patti was highly respected by all of her peers. She had the admiration and in may cases the love of hundreds of patients she treated over her 37 year career in Santa Rosa. Prior to that she was a clinical instructor at UCLA School of Dentistry. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Patti's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in her name.

Dear Dr. Hurley, Matthew and Vanessa,

I just received a letter today from Dr. Wyatt informing me of Patti's unexpected passing. I am so deeply saddened by this news and my heart goes out to all of you. She was one of the kindest, gentlest souls and I will miss her smiling face and warm heart immensely. Patti always asked about my family, kids and my life and never forgot to mention them or ask me about the latest happenings I had mentioned to her on my last visit. She had been my dental hygienist for over 30 years and it was her calm and gentle way that kept me from leaping out my chair with anxiety. She will be so missed by many and I know how much all of you meant to her. My thoughts and love are with you all! Jeannie Kelly

Dr. Hurley and family, I was so shocked when I heard of Patty's passing. Patti has been my hygienist for over 20 years. Patti will be greatly missed. We experienced our families growing up and always caught up with everyone during the office visits. My deepest sympathies to Pat, Matthew and Vanessa. She was such a joy to be around and always so happy and upbeat. I, too, will miss those kisses on the head at the end of treatment. She had such a dear and precious heart.

Dr. Hurley and family, I was so shocked to hear of Patti's passing. I can't imagine the dentist office without hearing her voice in the next cubicle and even if she wasn't seeing me, she would stop and ask about me and my son. Dear family of Patti,
I am so deeply sadden by the loss of Patti. I have been a patient of Patti's for at least least 30 years.
Patti and I were the same age, she being 3 months older than I. She made me look forward to going to the dentist. I was always greeted with a warm welcome and a kiss on the forehead or cheek. I spent the entire appointment chatting (which was not always easy, since her hands were in my mouth), with Patti about life and catching up on her kids and Dr. Hurley. Then there was always the warm hug and kiss goodbye.
I was scheduled to see Patti, this coming April 19th, I was looking forward to our annual visit. I didn't know what I was going to do when she retired, because she was the biggest reason I continued going to the office once Dr. Hurley retired.
I hope you can find comfort in that she touched the lives of so many people and she was truly remarkable in her warmth, kindness and spirit. She will be truly missed.

My wife, Susan and I, as well as several of my employees are some of the "hundreds of patients she treated" who admired and loved her. Her energy and enthusiasm were contagious. We are deeply sadden for the loss of such a beautiful woman, not only on the outside, but the inside. Patti was always a ray of sunshine for our entire family over the past 28 years as our dental hygienist. It is with great sadness that I learned Mrs. Hurley is gone. Everytime I walked into the Hurley dental office (which was a LOT) Patti always had a smile and a pleasant word. My deepest condolences to Dr. Hurley and his family.
