Papa, you'll always be this strong, hard working, upstanding, and admirable man to me. Raising six children was difficult but, you never complained about it one bit, we were 'Your Kids'. One of my fondest memories as child, was rushing at you to bring in your lunch box! We knew you always left a little something inside to share with whomever of us was lucky and fast enough greet you after your long days work. As kids, we had many Saturdays driving to Grand View Dairy for fresh chocolate milk, then to El Jardin Panaderia, its warm air wafting with scrumptious smells . You taught us food was to be enjoyed! This is the last picture I took of you seated at the Silver Dollar Pancake House. I can't forget our phone conversations Papa, sharing your day and what you'd eaten from the time you got up, until days end.
I cherish these times. You, mom and I worshiping at St. Edwards Church, Easter palms stapled into a cross, and your napping during services. We had our after church breakfasts at Eduardo's, Sizzler or Tamazula's. I'll miss our runs to your banks that turned into all day adventures of doing your errands! I'll miss seeing you speed off on scooters at Home Depot! Special ... quality time together.
Papa, your gentle manner, kindness and willingness to help anyone are the values I will always carry with me. I try to emulate them because you inspire that in me and others. Familia ... mom, us, grandkids, and great-grandkids sharing your knowledge, stories, heart and time.
Your passing has left a huge hole in my heart that can only be filled with your memories now. I picture you weaving your stories in heaven to all who will listen, I love that about you, and so much more. A symbol of a life well lived.
