Haroldine Swing Obituary

9/11/1934 - 4/19/2023 Haroldine Swing passed away on April 19, 2023 with her family by her side. Haroldine Ann Swing aka "Gramy" was born in Glendora, Ca. on September 11, 1934. She was raised on a chicken and dairy farm with her parents and brother Jim. She described her childhood years as most pleasant. Enjoying her horse and family, and working together to run the farm. She lived with her parents happily until she married. She graduated from Colton High School in 1952 and met her husband Gordon Swing Sr. in 1957. They married on May 3, 1958 in her parents living room on the farm in Bloomington, Ca. She and her husband of 34 years went on to run their own chicken ranch for a few years before they purchased their home in Highgrove, Ca. in 1961 where Haroldine lived happily until her death. She and Gordon Sr. raised two children and were partners in business running Swing Heating & AC for years out of their home. Gramy loved her home in Highgrove. She and that house were the family anchor, our true north. All her family knew is they could always count on the constant of Gramy in that house waiting with her unconditional love. Whether it was a phone call or a letter Gramy was always reachable with her tender care and concern for each friend and family member she had. She even started texting the last few years of her life when a close friend got lung cancer and could no longer talk on the phone. Gramy was an excellent friend and pen pal. Writing over the years to family and friends who were deployed, incarcerated, lonely etc. She remembered and cared for everyone. She was an avid reader visiting the local library weekly. She enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Her mind was as sharp as a tack, and she was always a joy to sit and talk with. She lived a life of good habits and discipline. Starting the day with coffee and her crosswords (writing in pen not a pencil). Followed by a daily walk out to the park and back. She cared for her acre of land with great pride. Planting a garden, growing and picking oranges for her daily glass of juice and killing every gopher she possibly could. She made her bed everyday and cleaned up after herself right away. She said leaving dishes in the sink was a bad habit. She was old school in all the best ways. Gramy was a huge sports fan going to Grand Terrace and Colton High School's Friday night games for many years. In earlier years she also went to every soccer and baseball game her grandkids ever played in. She was the epitome of support. She also enjoyed watching professional football, basketball and baseball from her home. We cherish the time we had with our beloved Gramy. She was the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She taught us to love well and to enjoy the simple things in life and most of all how to value family and friends. Gramy we love you and you will be deeply missed. Haroldine was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Swing Sr., is survived by her brother Jim Bergen, her two children and their spouses Gordon Jr. and Karen Swing, Nancy and Eddie Boyd, her 5 grandchildren Jaylin Krell, Sheila Riley, Travis Boyd, Samantha Wheeler, and Jacob Swing. She is also survived by her 14 great grandchildren, Caleb, Hezekiah, Mikaela, Zachary, Nicholaus, Delilah, Farrah, Bill, Olive, Bella, Elli, Aeva, Jude and Jeremiah. Celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 27th at 11 am.

I grew up just down the street from Mr and Mrs Swing, Gorden and Nancy. I loved going over to the Swings House to play, swim and ride horses. Gorden Sr and Haroldine were like second parents. Haroldine was a beautiful, beautiful, loving person. She will be forever loved and missed. RIP Mom
