I am sadden by the news of BG Cade´s passing!! I served under this GREAT LEADER and COMMANDER for 5 year´s of my young military career in Germany.
I was SELECTED as his driver , By CSM Fiffe while serving in the 7TH Army, 210th Field Artillery Group ,in the town of Herzogenach.
Then Full Bird Colonel Cade and I formed a wonderful working relationship. He helped me transform from a young man, into a SOLDIER! Col.Cade was my MENTOR! I served him with PRIDE and HONOR!!
He received his promotion to Brigadier General, while station here at Hertzo Base,Germany.
BG Cade was then transferred to 5th Army, Darmstadt as commander of the 5th Army Artillery. BG Cade, asked me if I would transfer duty stations and continue to serve him as his Driver! I jumped at the opportunity to follow BG Cade! By this time I was familiar with his wonderful family as well.
Mrs, Cade was such a LADY! I enjoyed all of the children as well.ANGIE was always special to me as she followed me around, like I was her Dad! We had a wonderful relationship,Angie n I!
Being promoted to a Bridadier General, afforded the General the opportunity to appoint an ENLISTED AID! Again , I jumped at the opportunity to become an ENLISTED AID! My duties included serving Mrs Cade at there home. I was so happy in this assignment and I learned a lot from Mrs Cade. Parties, serving of food and Cocktails at parties! Mrs, Cade was a GREAT MOTHER , so KIND and GENEROUS!
I served in that capacity for approximately 9 months ,at which time Congress voted to remove my position from BG Generals! I thankfully returned as the Generals Driver, a position and duty that I truly loved!
BG Cade again was again given a NEW ASSIGNMENT as Commander of the 5TH ARMY ARTILLERY! This would require him to again, to relocate to Wiesbaden, Germany. BG Cade was to transform the Airforce Airbase previously, to an ARMY POST! This took many meeting between Bg Cade and all of the German Politicians. Prior to actually moving to Wiesbaden, we made numerous trips to the city to reassure the Germans that creating an ARMY Base, would not turn there beautiful city into a city filled with tanks! The NEW ARMY BASE, would be an HEADQUARTERS ONLY!! NO TRACKED VEHICLES of any kind would ever enter the city!
I was once again asked if I would transfer with the General, of course I chose to follow my COMMANDER!!
On many occasions, I would drive to wherever a meeting was to be held and SCOUT out the arrangements ,such as Accommodations, food and Meeting places. I will always remember,I traveled to Berchtesgaden, Germany. The Generals meeting was a week long affair , that was being held at a Hotel in InnsBruck,Austria.
The meeting was to take place the entire week, so as a driver, I was not needed for the week. There were other Generals Drivers there as well , most of whom I knew.
BG General Cade asked " Sgt. Wally , as he always called me , Do you know how to Snow Ski"? NO SIR, I replied. BG General cade gave me a $100.00 Bill and "ORDERED ME , TO LEARN HOW TO SKI"!! As General Cade always said, "Be Safe , Enjoy yourself. Most of all remember that your a member of The United States Army and a SARGENT,Conduct yourself accordingly "!!
My Condolences to all of the family! BG ALFRED J. CADE was my MENTOR and MY HERO!!!! I LOVED him like a father !!
R.I.P SIR! "I THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES THAT WE SHARED"!!

My Commanding officer at the 1St. Bn. 92 Artillery in Vietnam was Ltd.Col. Alfred J. Cade , simply the most outstanding military officer that I had the pleasure of serving under. In combat he was an exemplary commander and as a 2nd and 1st. Lt. I am so grateful to have been under his command. General Cade was a warrior and fine person whose leadership skills impresses me to this day. RIP SIR!

Both Al and Florence were wonderful people. Getting to know them in the beginning stages of Caesars Atlantic City, we were honored to be included in their company at numerous affairs at Caesars and many charitable events. They were true Americans who served our country well. They, and their family, remain in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you all.
Arlington awaits.

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Cade during my tenure at Caesars. We were usually the first two to arrive in the morning, and would solve all the world´s problems. When his valued assistant, June, was out of the office, I attempted to fill her shoes, which was a challenge - they were quite the team! I have thought of him often over the years and will treasure how he expanded my world through sharing his experiences. My favorite memory is how he got into the habit of referring to me as "Miss Vineland." My heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends for their loss.

Mr. Cade was one of my moms most loyal, honest, true friend and boss she ever had. My mom, June Ross loved him with all her heart and he loved her just the same. My mom passed away on March 3rd and I know for sure she greeted her dear friend with open arms. Our love to the entire Cade family.

Al Cade was my home boy - (Emporia, VA) . He inspired me to attend Va. State and to become an Omega man. This was in the early 1950s. As a high school senior. I visited Al when he was President of VSC Student government. I joined Nu Psi in 1954. What a blessing to have had him as a role model. A great Man!
