Andrew S. Bjornberg

BJORNBERG, ANDREW S., 79 - of Barnegat Light, died November 22 at home. He was predeceased by his son, Steve, in 2006, surviving are his grandson, A. Nils Bjornberg and his wife Kirsty and his great granddaughter, Sydney, as well as his granddaughter, Lindel Frank, and her two children Trevor and Zoe residing in Tennessee. In Barnegat light Andrew is survived by his brother, Melvin Bjornberg, niece Carlis Bjornberg, and nephew Carl Bjornberg, his wife Chris and their triplets, Britt, Carl, and Kelsey. A long time resident of the Jersey shore, his father, Andrew N. Bjornberg used to row Andy and his brother Carl across Barnegat inlet to attend the one room schoolhouse in Barnegat Light. Later the Bjornbergs moved to Barnegat Light and Andy attended Barnegat High School. He also attended Vocational School in north jersey near his birth place in Huntley. Andy served in the army during the Korean War and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. While overseas, his visited his fathers relatives and maintained lifelong relationship with his cousins from Sweden, Andy was a True Viking, and loved the sea; he was a skillful fisherman and charter boot captain. He started working as a carpenter for Bill Shaiffer in the 60's and soon became an expert builder, with his son Steve constructed many fine homes in Barnegat Light, and he was especially adept at complicated additions and renovations. In the 70's Andy served as building inspector and councilman in Barnegat Light. He was also active in the 81 Volunteer Fire Co for many years and was president when the firemen built on the annex. In the later years Andy purchased a home in Hobe Sound, Florida where he spent several months a year fishing and boating. Services will be held at Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Rd, Manahawkin, NJ, 08050 at 11:00am on Sat. Nov 29th, Visitation will be from 10:00am till 11:00am.
