1949 - 2021

Ellis, Charles Robert, - 71, of Pleasantville, New Jersey embraced the kingdom of the Lord on Friday, July 9, 2021. Charles affectionately known as "Jr. and "Chuck", was born December 11, 1949, in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Charles B. Ellis and Shirley E. Murphy-Ellis. Charles was reared in Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic City, N.J. where he also attended public schools. After attending school, he joined the United States Air Force 1969. He returned home and married his love, Brenda Webb. He worked for the Labors International Union of North America, Local 415 and retired in 2006. In 2008, he became an entrepreneur and started a trucking company called "Ellis Trucking". He particularly liked having antique cars restored. He enjoyed colorful suits. You'd frequently see him at events smiling and wearing extremely bright yellow, pink, orange, red or green attire. Charles was also a member and past Post Commander of the American Legion, Kenneth B. Hawkins, Post 61 in Atlantic City, N.J.Charles is predeceased by his parents, wife, grandparents Bodie and Alice Lomax-Edwards and Robert and Doreathea Burch-Murphy; aunts, Doris Murphy, Joyce Murphy-Hawkins, Dolores Murphy-Bridgers; uncles, Donald and Derwin Ellis and brothers Percy, James, and Jerome Ellis. He leaves his beloved daughters, Charlene Ellis (Gary) and Cherie Angel Williams, his brothers, Kevin Ellis (Delamay), Bodie Ellis, Bryan Ellis (Christina), Steven Ellis, Michael Ellis all of Egg Harbor Township; Gregory Ellis (Gail) and Rodney Sarao of Pleasantville. His sisters, Pastor Shirley Ellis-Banks (Kirk), of Pleasantville, Dolores Ellis-Campbell of Egg Harbor Township, Alice Ellis of Florida, Michelle Ellis-Phillips (Joseph) of Sicklerville, His aunts, Barbara Murphy-Thomas (Charles) of Egg Harbor Township and Aloha Edwards-Sanders (Al) of Atlantic City. His grandchildren, Ajené Hall of Georgia, Ayonna Ellis and Ahmad Jones of Atlantic City. His great-grandchildren, Skylar and Mya. He also leaves a cherished host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A Homegoing viewing will begin 10:00 a.m. at the All Wars Memorial Building, 1510 Adriatic Avenue in Atlantic City, N.J. The Homegoing celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville, N.J.
