Claude Brower Obituary

Brower, Claude , - 80, of Galloway, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on September 29, 2023. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, Claude graduated from Atlantic City High School and Atlantic Cape Community College with honors. Claude answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy in January 1962. He bravely served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged after four years of service. Claude was committed to a life of service, as he retired as a Captain of Police from the Atlantic City Police Department. Within his 30 year career as an avid dog lover, he proudly served as a K9 Officer, commander of numerous task forces, proudly served in patrol, investigations, narcotics, and community outreach. Claude received numerous citations, and meritorious awards during his career. Outside of his profession, Claude had a passion for gardening, fishing, music, and hosting family gatherings. His greatest joy was showering his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with love. Claude is predeceased by son, Claude M Brower Jr.; father, James Brower; mother Harriet Lyons; brothers, Charles L Brower and Numan Salahuddin (Norman Brower). He is survived by his wife LaVerne Brower of Galloway; children Monica Brower Coursey, (Keith) of Galloway, Claudette Brower-Sabio (Cornelio) of Mays Landing, and Claude K. Brower (Alyson) of Sicklerville; Uncle, Ralph Lyons (Joan); Brothers, Umar Salahuddin (formerly Darryl A. Brower) (Wanda), Lloyd E. Brower and Vincent N. Brower; Sister Louise A. Brower-Leekins (William); eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins. Claude's legacy of service, love, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered and cherished forever. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 6th from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes, Inc in Northfield, NJ, with a service to immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor, NJ. Claude was an officer and a gentleman. If you knew Claude, he always greeted you with a big smile and a hardy handshake. God, rest your soul. You were one of the real good guys my condolences to the family, and may his memory remain in our hearts for our lifetimes.

My condolences to the entire Brower family. I worked both with and for Claude at ACPD. He was a top rank officer and gentlemen . He was well respected even by those he had to arrest. May he rest in peace . He will be sadly missed.

I am so sorry I missed Claude,s services. Claude was a great guy and a great caring policeman and family man. I was very happy for him when he was promoted to Capt. Well deserved. As a kid he worked for my father at Ginsberg Bakery he would come to our home in Margate so he and I would go to the beach he was and always will be one GREAT MAN I am very sad to hear of his passing RIP MY BROTHER
