To the family of my childhood friend and classmate, I want to extend to you my thoughts and prayers. I grew up with Dave, went to elementary school, junior high and high school with him, but I moved from Atlantic City just after we graduated high school, so it's has been over ten years since I've seen or spoken with Dave, but I have always had a good rapport with him and have been deeply saddened every since I learned of his passing. Although we weren't real close friends, everytime we would see each other we could share a laugh together and sometimes it was at somebody else's expense. The lasting memory I will have of Dave is when we were in high school and he would do this impersonation of somebody we knew that reminded us of a wild animal that I won't name and so whenever I saw him he would give me that smile and I knew if he had a moment he would go into this impersonation and he knew I would be in stitches the whole time and he would have a good time every time he could do it and in fact, it still makes me laugh out loud when I think about it to this day. I know that he was so much more and meant so much to so many other people and unfortunately I haven't been able to meet his wonderful children yet, but if they are able to read this I want them to know that their father was a really good person and had a great heart and if it's anything that you want to know about him and remember about him, I hope and pray that you know and remember his loving heart and continue that legacy. I know this has to be a very difficult time for the family of my good friend, so I pray that Almighty God will comfort you all at this time, strenghthen you as go on and bring you peace of mind and heart as you remember the beautiful life of David. May his soul be blessed throughout all eternity! I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER MY BROTHER! And WE ARE all brothers and sisters, not all by blood, but all in struggle and the struggle continues to rid our communities of all that which plagues it, so let's try really hard to treat eachother as loving brothers and sisters would so that we may beable enjoy a good life on this earth together!

Craig, Bernie, I am so sorry for the pain that you are going thru. We don't know why terrible things happen to good people but I do know that God promised to never leave you nor forsake you. He is the healer of the broken hearted...so I urge you to allow God's peace that passes your own understanding to heal your pain and fill your hearts with all of the good times, and great memories of the life that you shared with your brother. Please know that my and my family's love, thoughts, and most importantly our prayers are with you and your family thru this difficult time.

My heart is deeply saddened whenever I hear of young, black men dying tragically at the hand of another. I am particularly saddened when it hits home. Many times, questions go unanswered as to the "who" and "why" and we wait, sometimes, for years for justice. My prayer is that the individual voluntarily turns himself in. If not, I pray that the community would work together and that the police and investigators would work hard to find and apprehend the person who did this. To my childhood sweetheart, Craig, know that you and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. To my sister and friend, Bernie, I love you and am praying for you as well. To Mae, mere words do no justice to the loss that you have experienced but I pray for the peace and comfort that only God can give in a time and season such as this. To the women who loved and the children of David Nesbitt: Take joy in the memories and know that earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. To the extended family and friends: make your presence known, not only at the homegoing service on Wednesday, but as often as you can, check on the family and especially the children. Remember, "Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning"-Psalm 30:5 Man cannot determine how long that night may be but I want to encourage you that when the night season is over (mourning, weeping, anger, bitterness, hurt, etc...) God's promise to those who grieve is "to bestow on (you) a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair"-Isaiah 61:3

Dave, my friend and holder of a piece of my heart. The day I found out you were gone I lost a piece of my heart. I am truly blessed to have known and love someone as special as you. I still can't believe that you're gone. Had I known our time would be cut short, I would've told you that I loved you more. Twelve years we've been there for each other and every day since you've been gone has been a struggle. I cry tears of joy remembering the times we had together and tears of pain. Not just for myself but for your family and kids. You will always be my "Poopy". To the family, I send my heart felt condolences and pray that you make it through. I send my love. I'll always love you and keep you in my heart Dave.
